Mild clunk from front left, ideas?
Can hear it and feel it in the steering wheel. Only left side.
Car is a 2008 E90 sport w/ 30k miles. Nothign seems to be loose, I climbed under and checked every bolt I could reach including end links. Seems too early for bushings...any thoughts? |

i checked the three strut bolts, tight as can be. Could a failing shock make noise like that? Compression and rebound seems fine and no leaking oil...
I think it may be bushings but no idea how to really check them, they "look" fine.. |

If there are no signs of oil leaking at bushings you are ok there.

Strut mounts are not strut bolts. There is a metal part on top of the strut, which has a rubber inside with a a bearing inside the rubber. And as far as I read yes, a failing shock can make some clunk.

Thanks for the reply. I guess I'll just keep an eye on it for now...
I assume that a failing mount requires an entire new shock( or is it a strut?) |
