New member, looking for opinions!

Hi there, this post is basically who i am and what im looking to do, and im looking for any constructive comments towards my idea

First things first, great site, helped me greatly in research!
Well im a 19 year old Engineering Student, live in Carlisle, Cumbria and currently drivng a ford fiesta st, reason im posting this post is because im interested in buying a BMW e90!and need some advice. This is mainly because i keep seeing "chavs" driving around in same car as mine with big fat exhausts and there caps and collars to the ski. So i fancy a change

Reason i want a e90 is because i found this picture of a slightly modified e90 on google images.

Hoping you can see this. This is excatcly the type of car i want.

From what I can see and researched, it has been lowered on Replica CSL 19" Alloy wheels, maybe rear wheel spacers and extra drop on back. And rest is a bog standard m sport e90? Any commnets are welcome.

Basically what i want to do due to insurance issues i want to buy a 320d ES/SE model. Then add either m sport bumpers (front back) or these m3 replica bumper from ebay link below:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/E90-M...item19b73f9676

Then lower car on those 19" CSL alloys.

Firstly is it possible or will it just look shabby and crap. I know that sticking dodge viper strips on your Corsa 1.2 won make it into a supercar and just look stupid, and this is what im doing in a way. I believe that it would not give this effect to a BMW due to M sport being just a Uprated Aero Pack and Susp (I think)Ive never been a big fan of modifing, but looks appealing

If this is possible, suggestions for where/ what to buy would be of great help. Also would like to know all the side affects of any options ive suggested if you can.

Also my Fiesta has a pretty firm ride. I know that lowered on low profile 19" tires wont be silky smooth. But it wont be unbearable?

Thanks so much for reading, any suggestion/comments/opinions very welcome. Sorry for any bad spelling, english wasnt my best subject.

Also looking at Audi a4 s line but im hoping this is viable due to the fact Audi's are boring and BMW got more Power

Thanks again.

Can't help you on the specifics, but if you do go for it, you won't be putting the stickers on like the car in the pic, will you....?
No, seriously, you won't.

I'd have given my left testicle to have a car like that at 19.
Oh wait a minute....

Good luck and welcome. The ride on 19" wheels with sports suspension and RFT is dreadful. If you're fitting reps I guess you'll have normal tyres instead of RFT and if you get an SE you'll have standard suspension. Even so I'd wager it would be firmer than a Fiesta.

I understand what your trying to achieve, i have to agree with previous posts for ride the 19's will be firm ,especially over the roads in Carlisle(ex carlisle lad currock) however no doubt will look great! as to decals and stickers! please no...go for some classier mods, the audi..less power comfort and looks..so stick with your dream. Ill look out for you when visiting family next!

To be fair - that's the potholes on the Foleshill Road more than the RFTs!

Thanks for response, just to clarify i have no intention of sticking decals on the car.

Main thing im worried about is the SE ride height on 19's (look like on stilts?) But if lower it will the standard shocks need uprated, and rubbing issues, and also handling, its rear wheel drive and im not racing driver, so i need the car to handle sensible.

Also that is a standard M sport?(In my picuture) Is it worth buying M sport bumpers for a SE (Resale). I would go the extra mile for M sport but its around £800 more insurance

soapsteruk1971: Good to see another carlisle lad Aye there terrible, but aslong as they dont buckle wheels ride comfort isnt that big of a issue. Seen a nice grey s line, im gettin tempted, but there just so...basic. But all lads at work say BMW are way more of a drivers car

Any recommended suppliers of replica wheels/ suspension/ bumpers?

Edit: Definetly wont be getting run flats.. to much ££

Hello and welcome.

I'd have thought going this route

Would have cost you a shed load of money on parts and painting, and unless you don't intend notifying your insurance company of your changes, it wouldn't cost a great deal more to buy an M Sport model?

no probs with buying se and upgrading with sport bumpers a few members have done it1

if u looking to get the complete m sport kit... m style sell it for around £750 all in!

but def buy geuine bmw sport bumper and not reps.

standard suspension can take lowering springs and i guess eibach either pro or sports line would be best for around £150.

I'm guessing that's 750 off eBay not BMW? Hope it is from BMW tho. The replica m3 kit will be 1000 and very unique but lose value and need painted. Eibach will not effect handling to much. I'll look into a m sport because the re-sell values is much better. But insurance is ski high because it's a "sport". Thanks again for the advice.

Just joking kids! - No REALLY - honest!

If I ever find out who coined the phrase "bank of mum and dad", they could well be deprived of their bloke vegies. (probably a woman come to think of it)

I don't get how all these young'uns can afford these cars. The insurance must be absolutely mental for a car like that at 19, especially with mods, then there's the fuel. When I was 19 I had the occasional use of my mums Fiat Uno and a Skateboard for all other times (still use the skateboard).

Anyway, rant over. I started a thread just the other day asking about csl reps for the E90. I tried to disguise it as a question about offsets but I was quickly found out. They can be bought for a little under £1k with good tyres and there's no need for spacers to achieve the wide stance in the pictures. I would say that it's probably worth your while just getting an m sport as surely the extra insurance and initial cost must be less than modifying and insuring a modified es/se unless you are not declaring these modifications.

Final point. Ski is spelt sky unless you actually meant the winter sport.
