Sway bars for the 335i?

I have had my 335i E90 now for about a week, while I think the handling is great stock (sport package), there is a little too much body roll for my likeing in hard cornering.

I am wondering what sway bar options are out there for the 335i to get flatter cornering. I feel the balance of the car is pretty good and neutral, so I don't want to upset the neutrality of the car, just want less body roll going into hard corners.

h&r sway bars....I have them and they are great. UUC has some also, but has some mixed reviews regarding installation.

^^ Do you have the fronts and rear or just one of them, and how's the handling? Do you feel alot more in control when you're taking turns at higher speeds?

H&R is the way to go. They don't have adjustments but it is set up well.

OEM vs H&R

Front 26.5mm vs 27mm
Rear 13mm vs 20mm

You might say that the front diameter is not that big of a difference but the construction of the bar makes the difference. We have done just rear and front & rear. The Front and Rear combo is the way to go but just the rear bar is a must.

AWESOME, thanks guys.

Now I am in San Jose, CA anybody have a suggestion for a good, quality place to have them installed?

Also any supporting forum vendors that sell them?, I prefer to support the forum's supporting vendors if possible.

Also, does adding a brace bar to the engine compartment do anything worth paying $200 and change for? I noticed a dealer had them for sale in their parts department.

Is H&R the same as H-Sport? I had H-Sport sway bars on my S4 and they were great, flatter cornering and more neutral handling.

My only issue on the S4 was that the bolts on the bars had a tendancy to work loose, it was a known issue with the S4 and H-Sport.

Your E90 335i uses the same aftermarket sway bars as the E90 325i, 328i, and 330i. Dampers and springs make a big difference too, and yes, I can vouch for the big difference the H&R sway bars made.

swaybars make a great upgrade

I think upgraded sways would be the single most beneficial upgrade possible for this car

Thanks, at this point I can't afford to do full suspension, I am pretty pleased with the stock sports suspension, and I have no plans for any autocrosses or track time, this is my daily driver.

So at this point I just want to decrease the body roll in corners and make the car a little closer to neutral than stock. Oh and maybe add a front brace, not sure on that yet though.

We are local and we do carry H&R sway bars on our site. Carlab (now Sonic) is a very reputable shop and they're just down the street from us so you could get it installed there.

Sam is right. The bars are not adjustable.

If you want adjustables you need to go UUC or other more track-oriented outfits.

BTM Motorwerks in Campbell on Bascom Avenue...they installed my exhaust. They also removed my big brake kit and suspension from my last car. As for Brad..tell him Steve sent you..the guy with the 335i.

RD Sport is coming out with adjustable sway bars

I think the sizes are:

Front 30mm
Rear 24mm

I think some of these tuners just build the largest bar set they can because some buyers are only interested in buying the "largest/best" set on the market because they can brag about it. And for most of these drivers or show cars (nothing wrong with that scene) in really doesn't matter. I see all too often very large upgrades to front bars on real wheel drive cars which only help to increase an already persistant understeer condition. I had Racing Dynamic bars on my E36 and have no problem with RD as a company, but 30mm seems overkill on the E9x platform. Interesting that they also think a smaller rear bar than the H&R is better. You also have to remember that stiffer bars which may reduce body roll is not always the desired "faster" way around a corner. Sometimes some body roll produces quicker cornering speeds and allows the tires to make contact with the ground vs. lifting wheels mid corner. Like I said before, my preference is to tune with springs/dampers first, then address tire size and pressures, and finally address the sways later if needed.

Yeah, possibly.

I am not interested in the biggest, thickest I can find. I want something that will give me flatter cornering for street use. More important to me than having the thickest bars out there is going with a reputable company who has done the proper R&D and will help the car handle better and more neutral.

I believe that H&R Sport is well known and respected, and plan to stick with them.

That is why I am opting for the M-sport 14mm rear sway.

Depends on what your goals are for sway bars.

IMO - swaybars are one of the last things that should be done to a car, it is usually used for fine tuning.

Also, sway bars are usually used when you don't want to run a stiff spring rate, sort of like a compensation for it. Good for ride comfort, with no sacrafice in handling.

We carry H&R, UUC, etc, all of those good brands.

Each is set up differently though, and depends on who you talk to, some other person may prefer one or the other. You just have to let me know what kind of goals you have.
