These have been on the market for some time - the kits don't really "integrate", whatever device you are using will have to be controlled manually (ie: iPod, DVD, etc).
The device simply cuts the video feed to the iDrive screen and allows an a/v input, you will need to use your AUX source for audio.

I have it; here is my thread I've posted a few months ago:
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1143997 I've been running it a while and it works fine. I had a bit of a problem with my AirPlay device at first but it resolved itself. About once every 3 weeks or so, when using my AirPlay device, the video gets either garbled or the color is off. Simply disconnecting and reconnecting AirPlay fixes it. Again, none of this has anything to do with the XCarLink. Even then, it's not that big of a deal. As for integration - what needs integrated? The BMW nav is total garbage, so no need for that. I don't need to utilize the settings menu and all my audio is through sources on my phone, so Aux is just fine. IMO, this is a great alternative to a CIC/NBT swap at a fraction of the price. Remember, ever with CIC/NBT you don't get Navigation even nearly as good as what is available on your phone (Google Maps, Waze, etc). |
