Just got my Performance Exhaust installed!

Ordered it from Tischer BMW on Saturday evening.. shipped out on Tuesday, and it was here on Wednesday! I was shocked!

Anyways, just got the car back from the shop that did the install. They said it was easy, and they used the clamps that were provided in the boxes.

I was super worked up to sit down and power it on... but I feel slightly underwhelmed. Nowhere near as loud as I expected it to be.

Of course, I just got it.. and I'll see how I feel after a break-in period.. But from what I've been reading, it gets a bit more mellow (not louder) after properly broken in.

I suppose it's because I was used to my RPI Exhaust on my e60 5-Series that this sounds a bit underwhelming.

I have a 328i e93, with the N51 engine.

What would you guys suggest I do?

From what i've heard it's pretty mellow when driving, but sounds lovely when steppin on it. But yeah do a cat delete if you want it louder.

For the cat removal... I'd rather not mess with the primary ones before the O2 sensors. Don't want to deal with codes and stuff.

If I remove the secondary ones though.. Would that prevent me from passing inspection or anything else?

I just had my PE installed few weeks ago and I love it! It honestly makes the car sound more alive... it's not too loud that it's annoying... but it definitely sounds nicer than stock.

So.. to revisit this topic.

After listening and inspecting around the car a bit more - I must say, the exhaust sounds freaking awesome! Perfect loud-ness, sound, gurgle, etc.

.. from the outside!

From the inside of the cabin, it's hard to hear much of it unless you're at very specific RPMs, and even then, it's pretty faint. You hear more road noise and engine noise (fromt he front) than anything else. Forget about it if the radio is on.

Right now I'm looking for ideas for maintaining the current exhaust note from the outside, but being able to hear more of that from the inside.

I love that it sounds great to everyone else around me... but I got a new exhaust for myself, not for them!

Any thoughts/ideas?

Don't worry dude, I feel the same exact way. I love the tone of the exhaust, it's perfect. I even got a secondary cat delete but it still isn't loud enough for me. I just need something else to take it to the next step.

HAHAH nice one

but +1, more loud inside, get an AA. Or even more you would want a muffler delete.

In your situation, I would get the resonators cut, that way you will get more sound in the cabin.

Did you do the exhaust first, then the secondary cat delete? Or both at the same time?

If you did one then the other later.. how much of a difference did you notice after the cat delete?

Hmmm. I know it may cost you more, but maybe look for an air intake, might give you that tone you are looking for.

+1. Intake will give you a little more aggresive exhaust note, as well as more "engine noise" in the cabin.

But you gotta remember man, you're driving a Bimmer, not some ricer-ass Civic. BMW spent lots of time and money to keep sounds OUT of the cabin, seeing as it's an entry level luxury car and all.
