Paint Safe Winter Washer Fluid

So I'm looking to top up my windshield washer fluid with some winter fluid that won't freeze up.

I've read that Rain-X is good, but some people say it has stained their paint and left spots on it. I then looked into Prestone De-Icer fluid and couldn't find much info on it.

Which would be the best fluid to use? Maybe just throw in something that's safe for low temps and use it only if absolutely necessary? Then drain out for summer.

Not sure if I'm over thinking this or not, but would like to hear your opinions.

Thanks!

Check out Einszett Anti-Frost Concentrated Washer Fluid. I am trying it for the first time this year and so far so good. The best thing is that it's bio-degradable so the chemicals aren't going to harm your paint, stain trim, etc.

If you end up trying it out, keep us posted on your thoughts.

I actually just read about it on autopia, problem is I'm heading out in a couple hours and need to buy something OTC for now.

I will try it out with my next order for sure though.

I've been using the Rain-X stuff for years in multiple cars and have never had any issues. Works great, especially in the winter months and has never left any stains on my paint.

I bought rain-x windshield wiper additive once. I think it was somewhat milky looking. Left crap all over my pain every time I sprayed the wipers.

I think as long as its clear you should be fine.

I used rain-x on my older cars. Albeit, I didnt care about the clear or paint on those cars, but it defiantly didnt burn or scar my paint to the naked eye. I would have noticed that.

I Read some forums on autopia where people comaplined about a bit of staining. A lot of people with white m3's complained about orange spots on hood with the headlight washers too on some of the m3 forums.

I ended up going with the prestone de-icer fluid.
