Only 4 Verizon phones that work with iDrive?

How can that be? Anyone using something other than what BMW states works. The folks at Verizon are no help. I am in the middle of my contract and If I am going to pay full price for a new phone I want the full functionality with the iDrive. The Guys at the Performance Center said to try the LG's

Any advice would be appreciated.

most phones work. they're just not gonna test every single phone.
I have LG VX8600 and works perfectly on the G35, and on the bimmer

i would try to avoid Windows-based phones. historically they have a higher probabilities of problems (usually people on the other side cant hear you), although i know of cases where they work perfectly.

I THINK ALL Verizon Motorola phones work with the BMW.
I have an old v710 and a new Slvr they both work fine.
My LG V didn't link up the phone book BUT it handled phone calls no problem

If you're going to pay full price go all out and get an iPhone on AT&T...

works like a charm with iDrive

Raz, you did a great job on that chart, it should be sticky-ed, you collected data from real life users.

Nice work, putting together such a chart.

Although, I should add that my Blackberry Pearl (8100) on Tmobile transfers my entire addressbook with no problems. I have over 500 contacts, many of which have multiple numbers and it shows each name with the suffix (-home, -work, -mobile).

My 6700 uploads address book fine as is. When you add Jetware bluetooth controller you also get the signal strength bars and have the ability to limit address book transfers. Not necessary but seems to work a bit smoother.

It usually takes about 90 seconds for the bluetooth to sync up and to transfer the address book. My address book has 390 people and their phone numbers etc. Works well and fast - 98% of the time. On ocassion I have to toggle bluetooth off then on again. REMEMBER if you use this phone you CANNOT TURN IT OFF or it will lose bluetooth sync - you have to jut shut off the backlight (hold down the power on switch a few seconds and it will do it - hold again and it will turn the backlight back on).

David,
I have the LG vx8700 and it works like a charm. It sends my entire phonebook to the radio. The only thing I had to program were some voice commands to dial the people I call most. Here is a verizon link which has the compatibility of every phone. You will find this list VERY USEFUL! The chart that BMW shows only has a few phones.
