What are you talking about I have my headers and so does Johnny. The headers in my option were a great success.

I have my headers too, and his communication was the best I've ever had from anyone on here.

Car goes to the exhaust shop tomorrow to finish up. I'll have to let you know then. After I installed, I only started it once since it was open flanges and really loud.

No unfortunately no one has posted a dyno. Hopefully one of these days I can get in and get it done, just need to finish a few things in the car before i do that.

But is there a gain yes, how much not sure, but the car feels like a different animal. Johnny will be able to back me up on this the once his exhaust gets done today. There is a big difference in the car.

I noticed a difference just taking off the secondary cats. You will just have to wait for the dynos or just do it and take the risk. And i think Gavin is having a special price sale on the right now. If you go to his facebook there is info about it.

Gavin and his communication has been great so far in my experience. I jumped on that Cyber Monday deal for the black ceramic headers for $875 shipped. I emailed him to place the order, he confirmed, I sent him the PayPal money, and he shipped them out and gave me the tracking number.

I can't wait to get these on the car paired with the AA tune! I have the BMW PE but I'm keeping the secondary cats in. They won't get plugged up, and the secondaries don't muffle/smooth out the tone as a resonator would, but I think it'll help clean it up a bit. Plus when I'm in a crowded area, just keep my foot outta it and below 4k I should be good...

So Im back from getting the exhaust finished up. While in the process of getting you guys some videos my gopro decided to fall off the car. Cant find it lol

Oh well...

I have the stock exhaust with resonator still on. Both primary and secondary cats deleted. Is it faster, yes. By how much, dunno. Car needs more time to adapt. I get through with classes on 12/11 and will be at the dyno shop shortly after that.

Very quiet. When we pulled it off the lift the exhaust guy said he couldn't tell a difference. I hear the aFe intake more than the exhaust. (Which is what I like)

Up to 5k rpm its throaty, but tame.
5K + there is a minute amount of rasp (think stock e46 m3 amount)

Does that help answer your question?

Yes thank you, im sure it might be a little less raspy once the rear section gets warmed up. My PE cold sounds like a e46 m3 lots of rasp. But after it gets warm it goes away and is just throaty. Whats funny about what you said is my exhaust guy said the exact same thing when he pulled it off the lift, that there was no difference. I was like listen bro its a 6cyl bmw not a 427 with straight pipes lol

That's good to hear, I'm hoping the headers react kindly to my setup with the PE and the secondaries intact.

How is the idle vs. under-load?

I'd imagine they come alive when you downshift and send the rpms way up for that particular gear.

Do you find yourself short shifting to keep the rpms down to not attract any unwanted attention, or do you think you will when the stock parts come off?

@Benzo23- I wish I could have the cold start PE sound all the time! I live in the northeast so it's sounding great now. Once it warms up its not too loud, but I'm hoping the headers can get me there (w/ some nice additional power)

Thanks.

lol! I was thinking the same thing, but the local guys started to compare it to some of the 335i cars they have worked on.

Nah, even at redline its a perfect blend of sound/rasp. It doesnt attract attention. The headers and PE however would be loud as shit even with secondary cats. I like a quieter exhast, and I'd have to add a resonator to the PE with headers.

Uploaded a short vid with my cell phone. Not the best, and I only rev to around 3700rpm since my neighbors are home. Video is editing on youtube to rotate it back normal. May take a few.
