oil cooler housing outlets. which is inlet and which is outlet?

I'm about to install a custom.oil cooler. Anybody know which hole on the oil cooler housing is in or out? My cooler has exits on the same side (top and bottom) I want to put the line that the hot oil comes from to the top of my oil cooler and exiting through the bottom. I think the one on the left (passenger side) is the where the hot oil exits the housing. And the right (driver side) is where the cooler oil comes in. Thanks in advance.
