First post; 2010 E92 N55 335i dread ABS, Handbrake and DTC lights on dash in yellow
Hi all
Long time lurker here. Approx one year ago, I hit a rather large pothole whilst exiting the motorway at approx 55mph. I was greater with an array of lights on the dash that last for maybe 1-2 hours. Ever since then, the car has been fine (aside from broken fogs and water pump but that is another story). Anyway, very recently one of my front headlight washer caps fell off. I spent about 15 mins praying around with the mechanism to remove the remnants of the clip and apply a new cover. Shortly after, I was driving in slow traffic in rain on Saturday and the dreaded 3 lights returned. They lasted for about 2 minutes then went out. They came back about ten minutes later then went again. Now, whenever I drive they sporadically come on and go out. Cruise control etc works when the lights are out but fails when the lights are on. Any ideas? It's booked in for a diagnosis at my local bimma garage tomorrow. I'm a little apprehensive to drive it there. They charge 'only' £90/hour which I am happy to pay for a proper diagnosis but I was wondering if you guys have any exp with this? My dad has purchased 4/5 cars in a row from the garage and I have spent like 2Gs there this year already so I am inclined to trust them to not rip me off too much and maybe even offer some good will if it's the dreaded pump thingy! Thanks guys!! |

I believe it's a mystery until the codes are read...if they are 5DF0 and 5DF1, that is the trifecta aka DSC hydro pump...dealer gets $3,400, DIY is under $300.
But recently, someone had the trifecta lights plus the airbag, and his issue ended up being a wheel sensor. Good luck and let us know... |

Okay great I'll post an update once the codes have been read.
Am I right in thinking there is a, made by BMW, repair kit for the later e92s that makes the pump repair cheaper? Otherwise I will have to get the pump removed, sent off to third party repair then have it reinstalled. Thanks |

here in the states Modulemaster.com fixes the pump for $250, and it was $288 for 2-day shipping and insurance, 5 yr. warranty. I'm pretty sure they get repairs from all over the world. They are totally reliable, and imho the repaired pump is better than new as the so-called flaw is addressed....it's not a bad DIY, just takes patience. And even if a garage did it, $800 of the $3,400 dealer price is labor, meaning the part is $2,600. Oddly, there are threads here where the part used to be under $1,000, not sure why it became so expensive...
edit: The list seems to be $2,905, so I'm not sure about the $3,400 number that I've seen, it may have actually gone up by $300....I did see someone post $3,800 2007 - BMW - 328i Base - N51B30A - L6 - 3.0L - GAS BRAKES / ANTI-LOCK BRAKES / ANTI-LOCK BRAKES / CONTROL MODULE 34506777160 - CONTROL MODULE 3 Series; 2WD MSRP Core Online Price $2,905.98 |

The problem is, I have NO/zero/zilch experience of working on cars at all. I imagine an Indy will do the work if I pay them (enough) and I'll cover the repair of the pump myself

Just joking if this is your issue, at least you can save big on the part, and just pay the labor... |

Dealer just called and told me it is the right rear wheel speed sensor. I am going to go ahead and let them fix it as the car is on the ramp with the wheel off etc already! Thanks for the contributions |
