BMW E90 Badge on Key lost

Hi

I Lost the little BMW badge on my key yesterday. I went to a dealership and apparently this is a known problem. They can however not supply me with a new badge and the only way to fix this is to get a new key. This is outrageous. It's a small plastic badge that should not even cost more than a few dollars or rands. Now it's a cost of hundreds.

My Mother in Law has the same problem. Is there anything I can do about this? Any other guys have the same problem?

thanks

Christo

Happened twice and you are right they replace the whole key under warranty (if still in the warranty period).

Only thing, if you have comfort access (CA) make sure you have both fobs with you when they program the new fob. The first time the dealer replaced my fob, they programmed the fob and the CA did not work. I had to take the car back with both fobs. Something about only two CAs can be programmed at a time.

thats BS...my dealership here in baton rouge said BMW replaces the keys ONE TIME, and one time only, after the roundel falls off the key FOB. i boght mine certified pre owned (barely any miles however) and STILL got the keys replaced after receiving the keys without the roundel. I would say, 1)go back and talk to their service manager armed with the info, or 2)try another dealership. If absolute worse comes to worse, go ahead and call BMW USA directly...good luck

Thanks

Thanks for the Replies. Will definitely do this. I actually already lodged a Complaint to BMW South Africa. Seeing we export all US cars I am sure I should get the same warranty. BTW is the warranty same as my motorplan like in 5 years? or is it a different time span?

This has been posted many times. It'll keep happening. The only way to make sure it doesn't happen again is to bring it to a Lexus dealership and have them apply a Lexus logo on the key fob. Now it's fixed!

throw your key in water, shock it or whatever to make it DEAD. then you will get a new key under warranty. I would play this game if BMW really wants me to do that in order for them to give me a new one
