pre lci splitters - e90

I think the OEM-looking front splitters for the pre lci e90s are the best looking pre-lci front ends..

I actually dont like the carbon fibers one, I want paint matched, I have a jet black car.

I also am OK with fiberglass or plastic, as long as the fitment is good.

Where have you guys gotten yours at? On ebay they have them painted but I worry about fitment. First link are 110 bucks, second link is about 140-150.

I actually just bought the $110 ones and will be installing them this Sat. I'll keep you posted on fitment. This is my second set; first one was FRP material and it was cheap quality but the new one is PP and it feels a lot stronger. Just a warning though, it chips very easily from daily driving, which is why I'm replacing the first set. I bought clear bra to wrap the second that I'll be installing so hopefully I won't have to get another set again.

Yes, please keep me posted. Let me know about paint quality too when you get them.

I actually think the 110 ones look a little nicer, but am not sure. I figure though, for 100 bucks its worth a shot.

And about the chipping.. using a clear bra overlay would be a great idea, or vinyl wrap it in clear. I think even coated it with a few extra layers of clear coat could help too.

I got mine from JBSpeed. A little more expensive, but paint match and fitment are perfect. The material is the same as OEM too.

Yea I saw those, they look nice, but for 250, I may opt for the eBay painted ones for 120 or whatever... Waiting to hear back from others who have the eBay ones... One guy pmed me that he already ordered and is waiting on shipping.

These are the best option by far for pre lci... I even saw a guy with a hart age lip under the splitters... Looked ok but the car needs to be modded pretty good to pull it off nicely.

Had them installed this weekend and the fitment is pretty good for the price. I'll take some pics this evening

Nice

Many are waiting

How is the paint quality? Did you mount with double sided tape or self-tapping screws? tape might not be strong enough

...what are some thoughts to help prevent excessive chipping? ... clear bra sounds like an OK option, what about adding more coats of clear coat? .. a clear vinyl wrap will prob be best?

Alright, so I decided to go snap some pics over lunch since I had some extra time. First off, I must apologize for the dirty car and broken fog light (installing a new one tonight).

Quality:
I'm pretty satisfied with the color as it does match my car and the paint job is very smooth. There's no "orange peel" effect and it is glossy. The material (PP) is definitely a LOT better than my previous FRP ones as these feel solid yet fairly flexible.

Installation:
I simply used the double-sided 3M tape that came with the splitters and the screws located on the bottom of the vehicle. The pre-cut holes on the splitters match the screw holes on the bottom perfectly so it's a fairly, no hassle install job.

I also put a layer of 3M clear bra on the splitters (definitely not the best job, as you might notice). It does seem like there's only one layer of paint on the splitters.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with the quality, especially at that price compared to OEM. I'd be more than happy to answer any additional questions or take more pics later.

Nice!! Looks like I will be ordering those same ones! For 110 bucks or whatever it is, this is pretty much a NO BRAINER.

Can you please take a few side shots?.. I am interested to know how far the splitters "stick down" aka asking to be abused by parking blocks or steep driveways...

I am itching for nice weather again, stupid Northeast haha, cant wait to get my wheels back on PLUS the splitters and blackline taillights. I also have vinyl amber overlays for the headlights to tint them, not black them out, that I am waiting to put on... then get some MTEC AE's and I might be to done modding my car

Your car looks great BTW!

Where did you get your amber overlays? I'm slowly leaning towards adding those to the car

For reference, the parking block is pretty much the same height as the iphone 5. I'm able to go over the parking block with maybe 1-2mm gap left.

Nice.. thanks for all the pics! You need to throw up a pic of your whole car now just to get a feel for the overall exterior feel

Doesn't look like they hang down too low at all. and besides, I respect those parking blocks, I've seen my buddy rip his entire front bumper off on one of those things I don't pull that far forward (or back up that far) that any part of my car "overhangs" any curbs. ... yes, that is my car sticking out 2 feet past the ford F-250

---Also---

I was informed the splitters from JB Speed are in fact the SAME ones you (and I will be) ordering for $110 off of ebay. apparently the seller is or goes to, the same person.

I will be ordering the spillters from ebay VERY SOON, i can't wait

Thanks for the compliments and I'm glad I could help with pics! I'll try to find time and borrow a DSLR to have an official photoshoot.... I've been fortunate enough to not experience having anything ripped out by parking blocks

He's quick in communication and fitment was great. Easy to install, I didn't use the tape, just screwed it on through the bottom with the existing screws. 2 on each side.

TitanLH8....thanks for your due diligence. I just ordered a pair of the splitters at $109 (and that includes shipping to Canada) after seeing your informal review. It also gave me confidence that the seller's (emotors2000) listing had the BMW colors and corresponding color codes (I am the owner of the not so usual A53 Platinum Bronze Metallic so the last thing I would want to hear is a vendor asking me "What's A53?").

Have my fingers crossed that my experience is as good as yours was!

Glad I could help. One thing I would make sure to do with the splitters is to have some extra layer or protection, either clear bra or some sort of protective layer. My previous set of splitters lasted 6 months before I had to rip them off because I couldn't stand seeing white dots all over them

Thanks for the tip! Did you (or will you) DIY the clear bra yourself (and if so, buy the 3M on eBay as well)? Sounds like your next installation tutorial in the making.

I did add 3M Clear Bra prior to installing the splitters. I'm nowhere near an expert to give advice on how to wrap clear bra hahaha...if you look closely, there are some wrapping lines from not using proper techniques but they are not noticeable unless you are inches away
