Picked it up Friday... then put 1,484 miles on it this weekend ... what can I say, I wanted to get through break in quickly! Unfortunately it rained like a mofo, so I need to wash it ... but regardless, here are a few pics!

Dude, what a sweet M5. Excuse me while I go change my shorts.
I read the thread (don't have the link handy) about new-car prep, which talked about how bad the paint can be on a newly delivered car, and how you should always detail it to clean the paint and properly protect it. So... Spent all day monday washing, claying, and waxing my car. I swear, I clayed the entire car and got almost nothing off the paint; I've never taken delivery of a car with such swirl-free, contaminant-free paint. Which means that, either the dealership clayed my car as part of the prep (which I highly doubt -- the kid there said he just wiped on a spray wax), or my car somehow avoided getting dirty from the transport. Edit: I like the "PURE M" license in the pic above. In WA I used to have the plate "IMOLA M". |

About time!
Believe it or not, i filled up with gas for the first time today (two and a half weeks later). Oddly enough it only filled it to just over 3/4 a tank. So far 17.9 MPG, according to the car. The little things on this car are amazing. Having all the power windows have one touch up/down (including the moonroof) is great. It's also nice that you can operate the power windows after inserting the key into it's home without having to turn the car on. The doors and trunk close with a solid "thunk." The bluetooth works great. The iPod kit (no iDrive) works great, although it's hiccupped once. Even the bloody gas cap is different...
