Hi Guys,
In 2015 I bought a BMW CPO 2011 335is convertible with 30000 miles on it and I bought the Platinum Extended warranty for 6 years 60000 miles. I bought this at Century BMW in Universal City in California. So far i've put on about 20000 miles on it and loving every minute of it. The only issue i've had is when the CEL went on my car and had issues with the ignition coils, took that to the dealer and they fixed the problem and my cost is the $100.
Anyway I have been going through the 400 or so post about MHD, it took a while to go tru all of those post, I see some of the guys who post there are also members here.
I would like like to know your experience with the dealers, I have been thinking of installing MHD for my car. I was hoping to that you guys who still has warranty on their cars or extended warranty and installed MHD can tell me if they ever had any issue bringing back their cars to the dealer for warranty service, I saw a post (2016) there that this guy supposedly uninstalled MHD and re flashed back to stock and MHD info still showed up when the dealer connected to the ODB. One guys I spoke to who owns an M3 said the you void the warranty if they see MHD, they'd know you kinda like tampered with the software and added performance enhancement on the car that could have damaged the car.
I had all the necessary hardware to install MHD but hesitant in installing it if I am going to void my warranty.
Can somebody post a screenshot with MHD installed then re flash back to stock and get a screenshot with stock Factory and current software version. Does it or does it not leave any info of MHD, can the dealer actually find out if you change Software?

Thanks,
Rick

Might as well post my iS. Wanted a fun daily for a while. Found a clean one for a hell of a deal so I couldn't turn it down. My forth n54 powered car that I've owned. This one paired with DCT is heaven. Have a few other bmws as well. (635csi, m3, 328i xdrive)

These are actually my second set, I couldn't pass up on the deals with these and from my previous set they grip so well in the rain and warm weather conditions. They are a very soft compound tire and it feels like I'm rolling on clouds. It is also extremely quiet. They do wear down moderately compared to the RFT's I had when I originally purchased the car. My last set of DW's I had got a nail puncture on the rear passenger side on the inside camber wear where I had only reached less than 8,000 miles. Next time, I will try either the PSS' or the PS4 for comparison. I cannot say though that I wouldn't purchase them again, I think its a solid tire.

Just got a baseline dyno done today at my friends shop, Eurocharged in Winter Park, FL. They've got a $50 dyno special going on so I figured let me do a baseline dyno to see where I'm at.

Car is bone stock and temperature was about 88-90 degrees.

302whp and 346 lb ft of torque to the wheels. I think I could've gotten 4-5 more horses if it was a cooler day and had I done my carbon cleaning. I'm at 58k miles right now.

Anyone found a good way/product to touch up the interior trim? The paint has worn off some of the driver door trim in the knee area on mine. Seems to be mainly from the flat raised portion of the pattern.

Not sure it's bugging me enough to justify the $125+ for a new piece yet and haven't been able to find anything second hand in good condition.

I was just curious about the portion from 2.5k to 3k rpm. Looks like something happened there, i.e. throttle closure, wheel slip, etc.

Anyone know if the DCT up shifts on its own at redline in manual mode? In WOT my shift points are between 5800-6000 rpm so I haven't redlined it yet because the turbos stop breathing and your torque drops after 5500 rpm anyway. But when I was getting it dynoed, it seemed like it did. Not sure. I hear mix reviews, some say it does, some say it doesn't, some say you have to hold the paddle to hold the gear you're in once you've shifted into it?

I have a stock 2011 335IS with DCT and I know and I am very sure that when you have the gears in Manual Mode it does shift automatically when it gets to the redline.
One day day I was curious to find out what the Max speeds are on every gear, because the night before I was beaten by a Mazda3 on the freeway.
I took for granted that this is just a 4 banger mazda, I didn't think that he had any chance againts my car! So I stepped on the gas while it was at D, and to my surprise, I watched in disbelief as this car goes by me by 2, 3, 4, 5 car lenghts ahead. I searched the web and found that Mazda3 can be modified as well, cause it was fast. But I think I could have beaten it if was on manual mode and the right gear.
After a short distance the car exited the freeway and I had no chance of a rematch.
From that point on I wanted to know what the max speed is for every gear. Took it on an open road I put in Manual mode step on the gas and watched as it goes thru each gear and watched at what speed it shifts.
Like I said even on Manual mode it will shift automatically at the redline.
If you read the owners manual page 59
"Upshifts and downshifts are executed only when they will result in a plausible combination of engine and vehicle speed; thus, for example, a downshift that would cause the engine to overrev will not be executed by the system.
So that means even in Manual mode the computer program wil not let the engine go over the redline.
So, when I'm driving on the road and I wanted to shift to the most powerful gear all I have to do is, while keeping our eyes on the road, slide the shifter to M/S click the left paddle shifter 2,3 or 4 times for the best gear possible.
Cause it won't shift lower than it can handle anyway, step on the gas and hang on!
I am not sure with holding down the shift paddle to keep it from shifting to another gear automatically, don't you risk going over the redline and damaging the engine that way?
Except I don’t think it would let you do that, the computer will probably override you anyway, its part of its programming. Why do that? If you don't want it shift stay below your set shift points.

I can see how that would be highly motivating. Especially given your forum name

You don't happen to remember them or have them written down? Might be useful info to have (although I generally try to shift 1000RPM earlier than redline since that's where the power/torque band starts to fall off).
