Turbos:

FAQs:

What's the difference between N51 and N52?
Not much difference in characteristics BUT:
N51: lower compression, exhaust diameter after 2nd cats is different, has 3stage Manifold(+330)
Check it.

What is ___ OEM P/N?
3 Stage Manifold: 11617522927
e90 Performance Exhaust: 18102208793
e92/e93 Performance Exhaust: 18102208794
2/09 and EARLIER Spark Plugs/Ignition Coils: 12122158253(NGK PLZFR6A11S/BOSCH FR7NPP332); BOSCH 12137571643(BOSCH 12137594937 Upgraded Replacement)
3/09 and LATER Spark Plugs/Ignition Coils: 12120037663(NGK LZFR6AP11GS); BOSCH 12137594937

What oil should I use?
READ THIS!
FOR THOSE WITH SHORT ATTENTION SPAN:
Quote:
BMW Long-life rating LL-01 Approved Synthetic Oils for the US Market:
  • Castrol Syntec European Formula SAE 0W-30
  • Mobil 1 SAE 0W-40
  • Pennzoil Platinum European Formula Ultra SAE 5W-30
  • Valvoline SynPower SAE 5W-30
My car shakes violently. Why?!
Could be several culprits. Most common is a mis-fire. Check your codes if your SES(Service Engine Soon) light is on.

What's that ticking noise coming from my engine?
If your car's assembly date is 4/08(?) and earlier, it's the Hydraulic Valve Lifter Tick. If you're still under warranty, replace it. If not, its not going to kill your car. If you'd like to have the piece of mind of NOT having that noise, then fix it.

I think I have an oil leak. Where could it be leaking from?
The 2 most common places are the Oil Filter Housing Gasket(Top Front; hard to miss) and the Valve Cover Gasket(Passenger side just under the engine cover; best to use a flashlight/mirror).

What is this "3-Stage Manifold" I keep hearing about?
Seriously?! You obviously went straight for the "New Thread" button.
READ THE STICKY!

What is this "Charcoal Filter Delete" I keep hearing about?
You do this by doing this this. US intake box only.

Can I put a 335 exhaust on my car?
Yes.

Is it possible to do a transmission/engine swap?
Anything is possible, but the real question is: What is your budget? These cars are nothing like the civics/integras/240s that you see with a B20/ITR/2Jay-Z swaps. It's better of selling the car and picking up a used 335.

I wish it were that simple. There's two of each, depends on build date which to use.

If you have a car with a 3/2009 or later build date, use 12120037663 (NGK LZFR6AP11GS) plug, and BOSCH 12137594937 coils: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...17&hg=12&fg=05

Earlier cars, use 12122158253 (NGK PLZFR6A11S or BOSCH FR7NPP332) plug, and BOSCH 12137571643 for a direct replacement coil, or BOSCH 12137594937 for an upgraded replacement coil (and more expensive): http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...17&hg=12&fg=05

If you have replaced all the coils with the upgraded part, then you can run also the latest plug, 12120037663 (NGK LZFR6AP11GS.)

For real though, why the "Kill yourself" image for superchargers... surely someone makes them, no?
