Can't recommend that design, it is similar to the first version of the RD LED Angel Eyes. The problem is that the Y shape does not fan out enough and does not provide a full ring.

You will want something with a more fanned out Y shape like the WeissLichts:

Sorry for the thread jack but Nick, I'm designing a custom set of LEDs for my pre-LCI E90.

Do you think it's better to have the LED shine directly into the acrylic ring? Or is it ok to setup the LED like the OEM halogen bulb?

I tested a household 12v halogen I had laying around and it didn't seem to light up the rings much. However it wasn't sealed or didn't have a reflector either.

I found an LED array with a rated 2000 lumens. I want to use the stock reflector so I can use it to mount to the headlight housing.

If we are talking E92s, then I recommend using the OE design where the outer ring is a reflection of the inner beam. Otherwise, you are going to need to reroute the fiber optic pieces so you can light each ring up individually.
