As of next Thursday, I'll be in High Wycombe. Well, on the dividing line/road between High Wycombe and West Wycombe.

Lucky chap Dave!

If my old man was to lend me his car I would be driving around in a knackered '92 Diesel Disco maybe not!

By the way, if anyone wants to buy the ST its up for sale. 07(07) 1500 miles..make me an offer!

Had a 335i M Sport (4 Door) and now got a SE Coupe The performance is quite amazing really, I have too Drive auto’s (due to a spinal Injury) so I’m afraid I can’t compare the Drive to your ST but having owned a couple of M3s as well as an E36 & E46 Alpina B3, I prefer it to Drive more than my previous M3s because of how easy it is to Drive and also feel that it’s probably as quick.
I did nearly 3000 miles in the Saloon and over that time average 26mpg which seeing as most of my Journeys are short find that quite respectable (The M3s average was nearer 20)
Just been to Newcastle over the Bank Holiday and was behind a Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet at one stage couple of times when we got a clear bit of road he booting it only to find me still on his bumper. (I averaged just over 30mpg for the 400 mile Journey)
Got a Friend selling a Black 07 plate 335i SE with 18” and Sat Nav in a couple of weeks for about £32500 so if you sell yours and can get finance might be of interest to you.

I think the OP has probably bought a 335i and sold it by now - since the 4 years that this thread was started.

Feck me, where did this come from? I nearly bought a tear to my eye seeing this thread again, my very first post from 4 years ago. I never had a 335i, but I have had 7 cars since I originally wrote this.

I have been posting on BMWLand, the great people over there suggested I come here to 'speak' with you folks.

Surprise, surprise but I am a big BMW fan although I am currently blasting around in a 'Dagenham Dustbin' Focus ST3 (couldnt resist the urge for a few months whilst I decide on next purchase!). My last two Beemers were an 1994 E60 530i SE and, more recently, a 2006 E91 320d M Sport Touring which went back to the dealer last week after 8 months and 12K miles of very contented motoring. Whilst I was there I was given the keys to an E93 335i SE and I took it for a spin. To cut to the chase, I now now totally hooked and am looking to buy an E92, the E93 is out of my price league! The 335i engine was totally awesome, the noise was out of this world, and I have an urge to return to petrol after a spell in a diesel. I saw that someone had 34mpg from his 335i on the motorway so that makes it easier to bear the additional fuel consumption.

I have looked at both the SE and M Sport and have decided, rightly or wrongly, on the M Sport Auto (my friend at the dealership said he would be very reluctant to recommend a manual 335i). The spec is Le Mans Blue, Cream Beige Leather, Prof Nav, B/T, 6CD, folding mirrors, Burr walnut and mats. I am probably tied into getting the car from my local dealer, which is not a bad thing, as they took my 320d back at a good price and kept the equity as a deposit on my next purchase. However, I have been researching the net for the best deals, with the aim of getting a PCP monthly payment that is 'respectable'! The best deal I have seen is from Carfile.net, offering a 9.2% discount and finance at 8.9%, I want to try and get my dealer to match this. He is currently saying that I can have a 6% discount off list.
Does anyone know what sort of margin dealers have? and my final question is what are the current realistic delivery times of factory orders.

Also keen to hear from other 335i owners, are they many on here???
I can hopefully try and give you some input on fuel economy and running costs for a 335i. I have owned mine since last year and so far spent £50 on brake fluid change from dealer and conducted an oil change myself for 60 all in. Although its due an oil change from the dealer soon.

In terms of fuel economy I use to complain how I only get around 16-17 in town. However thats because i mainly drive around town and mine is auto.

I managed 440 mile on a full tank, with still 20 miles left on the range. This was sitting on the motorway, the trip averaged 36 mpg, and considering I even got caught speeding on the journey I wasn't hanging around either. (80 in 70 - speed awearness course so its all good).

So basically the 335i is very efficient on the motorways and not so efficient around town, however thats to be expected.

Bear in mind I only managed 440miles to a tank once, but thats due to the fact I hardly ever do motorways.

Would reccomend the car highly, fantastic fun to drive.

P.s forgot to add I took a pic of my idrive screen journey computer at 36mpg and 440 miles with some juice still left. will post if interested

Hi Peter, welcome aboard. I’ve been lucky enough to own a 58 plate 335i with the DCT gearbox and it was a fantastic car. If at all possible try and test drive the DCT version, despite what the die-hard manual brigade say, its head and shoulder above the 6MT. I had the 6Mt in a 135i and although not a bad gearbox, nowhere near as good as the DCT.

Be prepared for a couple of visits to the dealer, for coil packs and or high pressure fuel pumps and get one with a good warranty.

You might want to consider swapping the OEM fun flat tyres for normal rubber, but that’s a personal thing.

Watch out for the 225 style wheels, I’m sure you heard the cracking stories, both on TV and the internet.

If you are going for cars fitted with idrive. Late 2008 cars onward came with the improved idrive and navigation system, with the hard drive storage, which is much improved over the earlier version.
