Potholes: Public enemy #1!
Check out the damage caused by a pothole to my friends e46 330xi. The dealer wanted something like $1400 for a new rim, tire and alignment. Ended up costing about ~$500 independently IIRC.

I'll verify next time I see him, but I know the road. He could not have been going over 80km/hr really.

Wow that is horrid, often times your city will pay the bill if their potholes are the culprit. Its a little hard to prove, but it can be done, go to city hall and ask.
Also make sure to watch your tire pressures as well. |
