I have R1 x-drilled rotors with Cool Carbon pads. After the installation, I was totally regret due to the loss of the stock initial bit feeling. But after about 1k miles, it worked better and better. Right now at about 2k miles after the installation, I'm very happy with this setup and I've got my confidence back every time I step on the brakes.

no real gain in performance unless you are.tracking they do look nice though and you get slight noise with them

update 3.5 years later.... i had my R1 concept rotors paired with some ebc redstuff pads and they worked well.. but this past winter one of the front rotors warped. I've since switched to zimmermann crossdrilled rotors with some akebono pads and they feel great for daily driving. nice and smooth ... no more noise like the slotted rotors.

How is brake fade with the CC pads? Have you had any other pads minus OEM you could compare them to, please?

The CC pads have minimum fade after a couple hot runs compare with the Hawk HPS I used to have. But CC pads are more dusty though.

Thank you for your response. I, too have noticed some obvious fade on the HPS pads. I am planning ahead for my replacements.

I clean my wheels every weekend, so as long as it's less than or equal to OEM dust, I have no issues.

Not sure if I'm being stupid, but when people say they lose some of the initial bite isn't that due to the pads they are running?

Is anyone running these rotors with stop tech pads? That's what I was quoted when I asked the vendor...

OEM pads are ceramic, their initial bite is bar none, but the dust is as bad as it gets. Its one reason how BMW has such good braking on their cars.

Most dont go with the same pads because the cermaic pads once on their 1st set of new brakes because they do not want to wash the wheels twice a week.

So they opt for something with less bite and dust.

over 50% of the aftermarket pads will put off a ton less dust, but wont offer the same bite. Most are okay with that tho

Couldn't agree more on the dust its such a pain. Thanks for the info guys, I think I'll give akebono a try in that case. Shame there aren't more R1 reviews but I'll take a punt.
