methinks a lot of folks will buy this for the oomph per $ factor. with a few smart upgrades, this will be a great (new) track car (for the price).

I don't think it looks too bad. The high accent line works better on this and the 'vert than it does on the hatch-back . To me though, it looks like it has been designed for the American market; for rich kids with angry womanizing fathers and botoxed, bottle-blonde mothers with breast implants .... but I'm probably reading too much into it.

I was thinking of changing my MG over for a 125 'vert, but the new Z4 is on the way and the spy pics look very tempting ... also, I think I'd just look plain pathetic in a 125 vert, whereas in a Z4 I'd just look like yet another north-shore bloke with a mid-life crisis.

okay - so I went to the launch and then took a test drive.

First of all - respect to the guys at Trivett they are so good to deal with.

Now my impressions -
when I saw it on the launch day, I was taken aback a bit cause it looker bigger (chunkier) than I imagined - which is a good thing. I also loved the interior - but I have always been a sucker for the Msport goodies. At this point it still wasnt a car I would consider buying as I want an all rounder sports sedan ie.3series!!

However, I was so blown away when I drove this thing. I have driven the 335i at eastern creek so I am no stranger to the twin turbo engine. However, the 135i package seems to take it to another level. I also expected a bumpy overlly firm ride - it wasnt!! it was perfect. Even my wife (who hated the ride on our Golf GTI) was impressed.

I just cant describe to you guys how good it felt driving this thing, flicking through the gear changes using that msport knob -snickety snick it was.

I didnt talk to the salesguy about pricing -but I would think about $85k d'away ie. cheaper than a 325 d'away !!

Interesting this car is said to be for the US market (apparently they dont like hatchbacks) but over there it isnt that much cheaper than a 335i. In Oz its a different story. I can afford to get this awesome engine and this driving experience - if I strech. I cant afford the 335i -at all.

Once again, I am plunging into the dark abyss of "what car do I want"....

I have to see one in the flesh still, but I don't feel the love for that rear. It seems like BMW hit it with the ugly stick a couple of times to make sure it won't interfere too much with 3 series sales.

I do have to say that a 135 - all that engine in such a small car is something to dream about perhaps it can become a second car one day

Here are some more picts from real life. Be patient, they are loading form other side of globe. Not sure I like that 135i so much. But ppl who have driven say this car is faster then e46m3.

P.S. thats at presentation of X6, and that car was not getting best reviews.

I was out having a look at the new 1 ser coupes and verts yesterday and I just didn't leave with the "must get me one" mindset. I was actually surprised with the amount of space inside as they are a genuine 4 seater with more than ample leg room in the back. The best thing that came out of my visit yesterday was that I found out our compny was allready on the BMW EPP programe and so I'm going to take advantage of the low cost of doing the driver training.

I personally love the car - that's why I brought it. Photos don't do it justice and yes, it handily beats E46 M3s. I had a bit of a squirt with a Z4M - it was over pretty quick and I got the thumbs up

The reactions from 335 owners are all not very positive, can't think way *grins*

Hi mate

Good choice. I can sure understand why you bought this - As you will see from my review in this thread. Did you place your order before driving? just interested to know if there is a waiting list and if deals can be made at this stage?

Cheers
