Hi all,

Yesterday, when i tried to lock the doors via remote control, the drivers side would not engage locking.

It made clinking noise for a couple of seconds then give up. All other doors are fine.

I checked the fuses (56 and 57) and they are all fine.

Any ideas on what the problem is? Mine is 320i 2006 model. Thanks

Our old e90 320i had a persistent problem with the central locking, in the end everything related to it was replaced by BMW under warranty.

I had the same issue, its a common problem with e90s and normally related to 'driver door actuator' failure.

BMinimiparts.com sell them for about $32+postage, its a black platic unit the size a fist that actually locks and unlocks your door.

Have a look at the forums and you will find a number of DIYs on the issue to fix it yourself. If you are not feeling confident on fixing it then just take it to any local BMW independent - should be no more than 1 hour of labour involved. Took me and my brother in law 15 minutes, but he is quite good at stuff like that.

You door trim will need to come off as well as your door handle mechanism in order to replace the faulty unit.

Thanks. Do you know the part number or which model actuator on bmminiparts.com? I tried to look for it and there are several different models of actuator without much description and none of them is $32. Thanks
