At 19K miles I had about 1mm of thread left on the 19in original rear RFTs so I had to make a decision whether to change the two rears only with stock RFTs ($920) or change all 4 to non RFTs. I went with Michelin Super Sports.

Pros:
1. These will probably last longer by about 10-15K miles
2. Ride seems slightly smoother
3. I also notice less slippage when accelerating and crossing lane dividers
4. The car looks nicer with these on the 19in 313s.

Cons:
1. Slightly increased road noise
2. Car handles nearly as good as with the RFTs. Since the RFTs were stiffer tires it seemed like the turns were slightly crisper, and now with the Super Sports on I am noticing a bit more roll... But this is not a significant factor.
3. The car did not come with a spare/jack so this may be problematic if I have a flat.
4. All fours cost almost $1300

Any thoughts from members who made this particular switch?

• Do not follow the PSI rule on the side of your door on non RFT tires. More than likely your tires have too much air. Try 32 PSI fron and 35 PSI back

What size tires did you ggo with ?

My car feels more planted to the ground, much much more quiet, and handling is way better

235/35/19 front 275/30/19 rear Nitto RT555 tires

They may not feel as "crisp" but I can guarantee you that you have much more grip with them. My car actually quieted down a bit by switching from RFT to Super Sports. Dunno why yours didnt. Get yourself a can of slime and an air pump for an emergency or get AAA.

I went went for 235/35/19 front and 255/30/19 rear on the original 313s

I think you are right, I have better grip especially during straight line acceleration, that's prob why I don't feel as much slipping. I'm happy overall with the Super Sports.

I reaplced my RFT with non RF PIlot Sport 2 and it does make a different, much quiet and last longer than RFT that came with the car ( Good Year RFT) So far I had over 20K and still has plenty of life left.

55s? That's a pretty beefy SUV-like tire size for the front tires on a 335is.

To be honest, almost all brand out there will feel better than RFTs. They're so heavy and clunky. Like someone already mentioned, adjust the PSI accordingly.

It does not look this way to me. I replaced the RFTs on my 135 with PSS 6K miles ago. I recently measured the tread depth and found that I have used about 50% of the available tread. I know Michelin warantees these for 30K, but only on a non-staggered set-up. Otherwise it is 15K miles. I might get 13-15K out of the PSS.

The front and rears are using tread at the same rate too. Typically I would go through 2 sets of rear tires for every set of fronts (M roadster).

Because of the stiff side wall on RFTs turn in does feel more crisp. That was the one aspect of the RFTs that I liked better. Drawbacks to the RFTs...road noise, expensive, short lifespan (my rears were dead at 14,000 miles, that was with only two track days), and they were unpredictable at the limit of adhesion. They held fairly well to a high limit but gave very little indication before they broke loose. The Hankook V12s I had from 14,000-32,000 miles, and the current Supersports I have had for the past 12,000 miles are both superior.

It has been 8000 miles since I switched to Super Sports. Great decision. Gas mileage has improved from 19 to 21 although it may not be related to the switch.

The supersports are wayyyyyyy softer and much closer to a track tire.

Just switched today to the super sport, the run flats where showing the wires already, I looked around and found them at the same price of tire rack at americas tire (discount tire)
And got them all 4 for less than 1k plus a rebate for $70 from michelin.

Like every body said, they are way quieter than the RFT's
I'm loving the new level of traction, will se how they handle later, this is just my first day of owning them.

Perhaps you're thinking of the Pilot Sport Cup which would be closer to a track tire in terms of wear and grip.

The Pilot Super Sport tires wear longer than the old PS2 tires that they replaced. They will also probably wear longer than the original Bridgestone RE050A rft or the orginal PS2 RFT tires.

Uh, Pilot Super Sports without question will last longer on any e9x car than Bridgestone RFTs. I average about 15,000 per set of rear RFTs. My PSS have 12,000 already and look about half gone.
