JB3 Dyno Results

Well i dynoed my car and the results were about what I expected. The only mod is the jb3 v1.1 for post 29.2 cars. And its an 2008 6MT coupe

Dynojet Dyno, underground install
Temp: 84 degrees
Humidity: 23%
Runs were done in 3rd gear

329rwhp w/ Hi-Boost setting on JB3 map switch
266rwhp w/ Stock setting on map switch

For some reason the dyno wasn't doing the tq numbers so I would have liked to know what that was. Pretty happy with the numbers though, best 800 bucks i've ever spent on a car.

does it matter if you do the pull in 3rd gear or 4th?.. I thought 4th was the standard?

do others with the jb3 run hotter than stock as well? I used stay under the midpoint on my temp gauge, about two ticks to the left of the midpoint. Now i'm usually right at the half way mark("250") and I haven't really gone all out on the car yet with the JB3 (meaning 1hr+ drive to track and a few runs at the track and 1hr+ drive back home).

Anything to be worried about?

Yes it does, general rule of thumb is that you dyno in the gear closest to a 1:1 ratio, however since I dont know about the gearing in my car (still new to this thing) I'm not sure if 3rd was appropriate, usually though higher hp forced induction cars will do it in 4th to allow the turbo more time to spool and hence build power.

I did make 1 run in 4th gear with the hi-boost map and it netted 315whp. however both the stock and hi-boost runs were in 3rd for comparison reasons.

Nothing really wrong with dyno testing in 3rd gear. Usually, it will make a little more horsepower than 4th since the run is shorter and less heat is generated. But torque will usually read a bit lower since the quicker ramp-up rate will result in less boost in the 2,500-3500rpm range.

The reason you don't have a torque reading is most likely because the dyno operator didn't hook up the tach pick-up which is necessary to read RPM. It requires taking off the engine cover and many dyno operators will just skip this step. Without the RPM pick-up, the software can't back-calculate torque from the hp results.

In the past few days (how long I have had jb3) I have done a few WOT runs and for the most part its been lingering around 1 tick to the left of 250 which if I recall is around the same as it was stock when I was doing WOT.

Yup, my temps never really pass the 250 mark. On my stock car, for comparison, i was able to get it to 250 aswell. No worries.
