Here is pm`s sent but ive blocked out my personal info.

we have a deal.

i will Paypal and i cover Paypal fees and shipping expenses.

If you like to be far for both you can ask who much it cost send it to portugal Cash on delivery i pay all the fees

If you can send some fotos i would appreciate.

Ok,

I have another idea for picking the wheels,
I remember twill ask tomorrow to a truck company that goes every day to UK if they have a truck passing in your city, and the truck driver give you the cash in hand, it´s that ok with you?

another question, do you want the money in Euros or in UK currency?

i was also approached by the same type of offer cod and wagon driver collecting with cash a couple of weeks ago through ebay!!

Agree to meet the truck driver and tell him to have cash ready. Go to the meet spot of your choice with 5 of your buddies as back up and video tape it.

I would love to see what happens.

To be fair to both, OP that might be the way they deal over at thier end. To jcv09, this is not the norm in this forum. You pay through paypal or whatever, wait to clear the payment then seller will ship you the item. Just my $0.01.

What's wrong with paying then it being shipped? That's how pretty much every online sale is based?!

I think if JCV is willing to pay with PayPal up front as per his first line, then great he is legit - it's the later lines that came across dodgy so I'm not surprised LM was struggling.

Keep it simple - use PayPal.

i have read this twice and have not seen anything that would raise an eyebrow. i think that the best way would be getting the cash anyways before leeting the goods go which on every occassion this chap has said?

to do COD at his door in portugal is a bit out there but i would defnintley be meeting his delivery driver to give me the cash, inspect and collect (taking pictures of the wheels to establish their condition at pickup).

i have also previously had this sort of thing which is why it didnt ring alarm bells.

you see the UK like any other country have businesses that import goods from other places in europe and some of these companies meet up with individuals who want things picked up over here, hand them the cash and then wait for them to return.

so if your unsure about this ......meet the delivery guy in a ASDA's or somewhere public without the goods, make sure hes legit and has your money(or paypal, whichever youve agreed on), collect the money and then let him have them.

youll be fine...ow and collect a number for your buyer and let HIM tell you when his driver has arrived

Cash on collection always best but how often do you hear of a wagon coming from Portugal with the cash to pick up a set of wheels in u.k.

I have give the member benefit of the doubt and agreed to his proposals.

Bank transfer would be best, no risk of dodgy notes [ happens more than people think] and no chance that the buyer can pull a paypal dispute out of the air. Not saying that the buyer would of course.

you don't but needs must and all that. Remember the buyer could be just as skeptical as you so only wanting to hand over the money when the goods are present.
I once had a guy win something I had for sale on ebay and then send the cash via the post recorded delivery?!

Sometimes people really aren't out to scam, then again sometimes they are BUT until you've been scammed you shouldn't be naming and shaming. That said I'm not saying you should trust anyone blindly either. Cash on collection is perfectly fine regardless of who is bringing the cash or from where...just keep your wits about you and if you are worried about counterfeit notes then get one of those pens from the bank.

I paid £7k in £20 notes for a bike once similar reasons (I didn't want to hand over the money before I got the bike and he didn't want to accept a cheque and let me ride away with the bike) We agreed cash on collection and I rocked up cash in hand and and patiently sipped a coffee he made me while he counted and marked every note to check it wasn't counterfeit. Job done and we were both happy.

I don't see any issues. Cash exchange would actually be a much better option (assuming not fake cash. For Paypal, he can file item not as described and you will be SOL of wheels and cash (he can ship you back whatever and keep the wheels). NEVER I repeat NEVER, send money as wire transfer, western union or Paypal as "gift" to a person for purchase as you will be out of luck if something happens. How many times have we heard, oh I will ship it soon, then something came up and ship later yet again, you get fake tracking number (shipping label) and by the time you realize you been played it is too late to get anything back.

Like someone said, arrange to meet the buyer's driver with a group of friends and at a public place. If he brings cash, count it, hand over the wheels and deal done.

I share you concern, especially after that other thread where someone has their tyres stolen but as far as can be seen this guy seems good and just wants to pamper his car like all of us .

Do the deal on your terms and all will go well.

It's sad that we now have to think of people as guilty or dishonest before proven but that's the way the world has gone now.

I really don't trust paypal to be honest...

I had an awful experience where a buyer was using a stolen paypal account, sent the money to me and I deliberately waited for the funds to clear into my account until I handed over the goods then a couple of days later got a phone call from Paypal explaining of the hacked account and they reversed the transaction and I had no leg to stand on.

there is nothing wrong in this arrangement in my opinion, i recently bought air springs for my x5 from germany, although the company looked impressive online, i have never used them, for me the best option was cash on delivery as i did not want to part with my money with a company overseas in case i never see the goods, the buyer was even genuine enough to say to LM to get a quote from a company who will drop it and collect cash. which is what the german company did for me, they used a trusted courier to collect cash on their behalf.

And yes it is correct, i have family from portugal and trucks come on a daily basis delivering/collecting goods.

Hope this helps - p.s. i dont blame anyone for being to cautious including the buyer and seller in this case

I gave the buyer the benefit of the doubt and agreed to his terms which fell through so gave him the option to pay with paypal and since that its all gone quiet.
