Upgrading audio system
Hi guys
I know this is technically meant to be in the audio section but i feel a reply wont come quick lol. Ive got the standard base/stereo system in my car w/ idrive im looking to upgrade to something like the logic 7 which is what i had before on my old 335. Questions: The standard system has 6 speakers i believe, 4 100cm speakers, 2 in the front 2 in the rear and 2 160cm loudspeakers under the seats. Does this mean that it doesnt come with 26mm tweeters in the corner? My aim is to put a single/twin sub enclosure in the boot, with a amp. I also want to install/upgrade the front tweeters, upgrade door speakers and centre speaker x 5 100cm's and the sub enclosure? I would need a 7 channel amp? Is that how it works, 1 for each speaker? Thanks |

FYI

You only have 6 speaker holes or mount points. If you want to go crazy you can get Jehnert Panels for your front doors. See Jehnert.com The above thread is the best starting point. There have been a few Brits on the audio board recently such as Mob17 who you can compare notes with and maybe hear there systems. I wouldn't try to duplicate L7 you can do better for the same price. Also this guy makkan00 http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=775047 http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...ighlight=mob17 Do a search = London in the audio section and a bunch of people that have done stuff there will pop up. sound upgrade
My car (2009 328i E90) has stock hifi speakers and came with the bmw professional radio head unit. I want to make the sound system sound better. I plan to add the JL XD600/6 6 channel amp, use Audiocontrol center 6 Ch line converter to link the OEM amp to the new Amp. I will be using a 4G amp kit and RCA. Do I need your harness ?
I do not want to replace the factory Amp but instead improve it using the JL aftermarket Amp basically not messing with the fibre optic system already in the car. Please does this makes sense? Am i on the right track here? I am in Canada and it is hard to get any help here. |

Ii had a base system and have just replaced my headunit for a pioneer time alignment system.
Speakers have been replaced with mb quart custom e90 speakers consisting of tweeter, mids and 8" underseats. With Hertz for rear fill and have added 2 genesis amplifiers one to run the speakers and the other to run a diamond sub in a custom enclosure under the floor. It sounds awesome. Just don't expect to achieve this without spending fairly serious money. I am more than happy to show you if you live local. I am based on Woking Surrey.

If you have hi fi no need to link the amp
If you have hi fi no need to link the amp
in fact it's a bad idea.(remove the stock amp) Just get a Technic Harness for Hi Fi that's all you need for the amp. The Jl xd series interfaces with Hi Fi without the need for anything but a harness. The solutions for this system(and the other systems) are well documented in this thread. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=641323 This thread belongs in the audio sub forum. The Hi Fi amp is connected by analog signals only the Logic 7 has a fiberoptic interface. see diagrams in the links below. I feel your pain that's why I Diy'ed it.
I feel your pain that's why I Diy'ed it.
I have heard some pretty bad horror story's of damage and generally crappy systems being installed. I also studied this in detail so I know what is possible with each of the three common systems and the paths are well laid out in that thread. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=641323 But the people on the audio board sub forum here have it licked with known and proven to work systems. Also I have some DIY links that will make this easy if you are somewhat competent with cars and small tools. I bought a MusicarNw kit myself. I need to emphasie this next statement. "You need to identify your system for sure as which one of the three common ones it is because the solutions are different for each one." Well I could send them to you if you were accepting messages.
