Very unlikely in fully functioning condition. You could find a rebuilt or salvage title for that price probably but not a clean one.

So big question here:
Why would you want one at 10k or less... a 50k+ car for 1/5th of its value probably isn't in any shape to own...

I remember being 20yrs old and I drove a reliable nissan pulsar and I found a Eagle Talon Turbo with AWD and a stick with 80,000 miles for 3 thousand. Against family recommendations I self willed the purchase and within 3 months I was walking due to reliability and maintenance costs. Lesson somewhat learned. I say somewhat because allot of us want the next level of performance and quality on a limited budget. I am looking at a CPO M6 with 37,000 miles for $40k Smart? Nope. But damn if the obsession isn't driving me mad. |

Why not buy an e46 M3 with high mileage? mod the engine up and your good to go 335i isn't what I would put as a good track car. Lots of other cars would do much better imo.

I personally would recommend spending a little more and grabbing a: S2000 STI WRX either of those would be cheap to mod, maintain, etc and give you good track times.

10k is a lot for a car that you will only be able to track one time

I've seen a few around the $10k price range. Most are salvage but seem decently clean, not very well equipped but hey, its still a $55k car right? lol

I bought a 2001 Audi S4 in 2009 with 62k on the ticker for 11k. Had wide body kit and19 inch I-forged wheels. I thought it was a great deal. I blew a turbo within a week. Had it replaced. Blew the other a week later. Replaced, had whole engine rebuilt. Blew another turbo, boost leaks, pissed oil, body kit started falling apart, then a constant air leak in back wheel. Reconditioned that like three times to no avail. The car was a NIGHTMARE! Owned it for 6 months, spent about four in the shop. Moral of story, don't buy high performance cheep if you don't have a lot of time and money to do some wrenching. I learned my lesson and I'm now extremely pleased with my CPO 335i.

I recently picked up an '07 335i sport package (+ JB4, DCI) with 125k miles and a clean title for $12k. I had to drive 400 miles to get it and had the PO jump thru a million hoops to make sure if was in proper working condition. I spent 2 months on CL looking for the right deal, they're rare but they happen and you have to hop on them as soon as they pop up.
That said, if you are looking for a dedicated track car... Hands down get a track prepped S52 swapped E30. You'll be right in the $10k range and have a lightweight, monster of a track car that can run laps (literally) around cars that are 10x the price. If you need convincing, here what one can do with a stock m20 under the hood... (Go to the 2:00 mark) |
