Really need to change my oil. What has been the outcome on debates regarding best oil in Australia? Any good deals anywhere atm?

I use the above oil, currently on special. You'll need 6.5litres if you also do the oil filter

Wow. Is it really marked down from $71 or was it marked up to marks down?

Yeah ain't never paying $71.
Sale normally comes every quarter, supercheap alternates with repco.
Usually good timing for 6 monthly changes.
Penrite does something similar too, sale wise.

Should do the oil filter at the same time
One of the function oil in the car is to remove contaminates (metal fragments etc)
Changing the oil and not the filter, is like changing your clothes but not your underpants (ewwww)

I would never think of it. Changing oil without filter change. What is underwear?
