Been on here for a while and never heard anyone talking about shifter bushings

Shifter bushings! July of 2014 will be my 9 year of ownership on my e90 330i. Its a 6mt and love it. In the last few months I been trying to shift into 3rd and hit 5th by accident. I know its not my driving I been driving manual for a long time and owned over 6 manual vehicles. Thats the only gear I can complain about and it happened to me like 5 times.

I drive this daily now and it has 62k miles. Anyone replace or experience something like this? Is this age related or wear related and/or both. I know its a bushing I see a faint play in it but not bad enough to replace. I had a E36 M3 that has tons of play in it and was hard to get into proper gear was pretty loose.

Will a short shifter kit have the necessary bushing kit for my vehicle? I was thinking why not do it since its an upgrade.

I have a 2006 330i 6MT and with 66k miles. I never experienced the mis-shifting problems you described but had a Rouge short shift kit installed yesterday (along with a modified clutch delay valve) and I am loving it! Throw is short and everything is less sloppy. Definitely worth the money for the upgrade.

I'm at 238K as of today. Shifter is original and works almost good as when new. Not as near a loose as my E30 was at the same mileage.

Damn congrats on the mileage! I def see something wrong it happened again today and I realized it happens when the car is cold. I wish I can check others to see the play but all my buddies have auto bmw e90/e92 or e46 m3s. When positioned in a gear it does have some slop in it. I think im going to ignore it until It starts to be unbearable. The bushing is cheap like 20 bucks
