i think people will only post here if they got a really good deal. all the normal folk will sit quietly and suffer in silence.

steelcase is crazy busy when it comes time to get your tires put on!!

Yes but the point of my post is also to direct people who may not have bought tires to get them for good prices.

Let me take a stab - SimplyTire group buy?

I got the M5 Reps (Style 166) + Dunlop M3 Runflats (in 16 though) for about 1350 all in (but i had to adjust the tire pressure when i got home - over inflated and all set to same).

4 x Hakkapeliitta R, 245/45-17. $1144 installed, including all taxes, tire disposal fees, etc. Comes with lifetime road hazzard from Kal Tire too.

It has already snowed twice in Calgary and I LOVE these tires.
Bus got stuck on the hill near my house, but I went right up without even seeing the traction control light. No, they don't have the performance of Dunlops M3 or Bridgestone LMs, but they are incredible in the snow. That's what I want in a snow tire.

Non-RFT, of course.

Dunlop 3D's are overrated IMO. I think they are fine on dry, but they don't have as much bite as I would have liked in the snow. I'd actually trade some more tire noise and squirm for something better in the snow than the Dunlop 3D's...

that's true for all performance snow tires. they are a comprimise. full winter tires will provide the most traction in snow and ice.

Missed the RFD group buy and I've just started looking today.

If you guys aren't running winter runflats, what are you doing for a spare?

Left one of my all-season runflats in the trunk for a limp home spare.

The Dunlop 3D's on an xi is an unbeatable combination. I was in U of Waterloo campus 2 winters ago with snow a foot deep on the ground. No problem at all. Didn't even need to activate DSC.

Not sure I agree with that, but again there probably isn't a wrong or right answer. It definitely gives up some bite in snow and ice over a more aggressive snow and ice tire.

I had SUV Blizzaks on my Pathfinder and even in 2wd mode in high snow, it was like driving a knife thru butter. Then my parents car had some non-recognizable (to me) brand of tire (recommended by Steelcase) and I thought it had much better snow and ice grip than my 3D's.

In the end, maybe it's my expectation that is off kilter. Just read so many positive reviews on here about the 3D's, but it just doesn't cut it for me for snowy conditions in Markham...
