Most bang for your buck?

If you were on a limited budget, what would you spend your money on as far as engine mods go and pricing?

Trade the car for a M3. 335i retains the same kinda feel as your 325i maybe bigger engine and twin turbo, thats pretty much it.
The M3 on the other hand, is a completely different car with a whole lot more of "fun" packed into a 3.
OR! Just keep your 325i and use it as a regular point a to point b car with a little spice added in it.

You will lose a lot of money if you trade your 325i up for a 335i. If you didn't have a 325i I would have said just buy a 335i. But since you have a 325i and you want to jump to a 335i, it's not worth it (IMO).

Correction: I also didn't see your on a tight budget. It depends what you mean by a "tight" budget.

I love my 323i, and I wouldn't trade it for any other car in it's price range.
The feel of 323i (handling) feels exactly like the 335i with just less power. Power would be nice, but I like to save on gas. So that really balances it all out.
But to be honest, I don't know why. I drive so many other cars before that were more expensive than my 323i and for some reason, I like my 323i the best. BMW has honestly made their cars fantastic. The road feel of the e90 3-series is just magnificent. 335 or not 335, the 3 series always makes my face smile.

Just also wanted to add. If anyone wants to experience one of the most fun rides ever, give the Mini Cooper S a spin. Looks are okay, but driving feel.... 1 word, addicting.

when i bought the 325, it was really looking hard at the 330 but couldn't justify the price diff since it truly is just a point a to point b car. but then i some how talked myself into nav, which i don't ever use...

it's almost 90 miles roundtrip for me to work and back. don't need a ton of oomph but wanted the bmw feel...

course a year later they come w/ the 335 and really hosed me. i probably should have waited, but oh well...

now i was just considering putting a few bucks into it for fun...any thoughts?

3-series's in general except the M3 is all the same feel in suspension and turning ratio. The 335i e90/92 is just a regular 3 series with a little Turbo kick. I would get a used E46 ///M3 IB/BLK

Run my way, get yourself a nice Simota Intake (brand new for $250.00).
Makes the car sounds nice and the higher-end torque is a lot better.
Don't feel bad that you didn't get the 335i. Many of us said the same thing "oh why didn't I wait for the 335i" but we got over it.

Even you see that since you bought a nav, you rarely use it. Thats what I call impulse buys. I really want a 335i, but I look back and realized it was just an impulse to have more horsepower.

Of course its fun to have more horses but in the end, it wasn't practical. More money for gas, I would rarely race it on the street or track even if I did have procede. I never go tracking. There was really no need for the power.

I'm just focused on dressing up the car, putting some nice rims and getting maybe a M-aero kit.
Oh and if your serious, get a muffler or do the muffler delete.

Exactly my point. About the e46 M3, I would definately consider if I had some extra money and I found one going for cheap. I love the look of Alpine white e46 m3s...

See what I mean? I love my car. You know what, wash your 325i. Get in it and take it for a nice spin.
This community was formed by non-335i owners. We're all lovers of the e90 3 series.

Also, one of the nicest looking cars on e90 post is not a 335i. It's a 320d.

When I see those pictures. I say to myself. I really don't need a 335i. Most girls couldn't tell the difference from a 323 from a 335i!

What's you gas mileage like? Mine isn't too bad considering it's mostly city driving. I still get 21+mpg, which imo, isn't too bad. Beautiful car btw!

..frankly l am always a little amused when I read the compares about power and speed and 323 and 335 and M3 and 0-60 in xyz seconds.. I think for most of us and then some a 318 (316?) gives more than enough power for normal driving..The real truth is we more want our car to look HOT!!

here's one thought, .

There are so many threads like yours "What should I buy for XXX dollars?", "What should I mod if I have a limited budget?"

Give him a break, hes new to the forum and the last thing he needs a scolding on how to use the search function.
Even if he did search, he would have to look through a crap load of other posts that deal with e90 335's and not the non-335i.

he doesn't even have to search, just browse around the NA Engine section, which this thread is located in. All the available NA upgrades are here, no need to sift through 335 stuff.

Chip if they have it for your car, intake, DP, exhaust.

as far as M3 = funner than 335i, I think it's pretty fun and funny pulling on e46 M3's all day without any mods. And now with PROcede, its even funner. besides, KW has V2's that sale for $1,500. if you're not satisfied with the 335i sport suspension. <3 335i all day long.
