That is normal. A coder can code only halo rings to works as DRLS.

Coder in South Wales

Hi

Is there someone in South Wales (I'm in Porthcawl) code my E91 LCI halogen to bring AEs on as DRLs?

If so, how much will it cost?

Many thanks!

Chris

ps. Yes, I'm new!

Its only if you have Xenon headlights as an option that the angel eyes are used as drl....

That's strange, like the other posts, my LCI uses both Halogens & AE as DRL

It will because you don't have Xenons...

Hi,
I have a 2005 330i e91 with xenons and when drl's are activated BOTH the xenons and halos are activated. However my brother has a 2007 (57) 330i e92 and when drl is activated ONLY the halos are on. Weird!!!
Anyone have the answer to this or is it a coding issue?
Mukaram.

Same when I turn on the DRL's on mine, only the angel eyes come on and and this is on a pre-lci car too. I do however have Xenons and it's a E93 so it's either a feature of having Xenons OR the coupe's\cabs have a slightly different setup to the 4 door saloons.

Pre LCI cars used angels for sidelights and headlights for DRL's when Xenons were specced.

When the LCI was launched, the headlights units were upgraded so the angels were brighter and were then used for DRL. The angels are used for sidelights too but at a dimmer light output.

On E90/91s, if your car is post 03 / 2007, and have LCI headlights, it can be coded to have halo rings as DRLs. Condition is that you should have auto option on your headlight switch.

Are you absolutely certain? I am almost positive that on my pre-lci car, when I enable the DRL's through iDrive, only the angel eyes come on. Hmm you've got me wondering now?

No need to wonder !

Mine is 03/08 build, Pre-LCi, with Xenons, and I enable the DRL's through iDrive, and only the angel eyes come on.

You are not going crazy !

The OP was talking about E90/E91 models.... E92/E93 models all had Xenons with angel eye DRL's as standard. The LCI upgrade meant they went to LED for the angel rings on the Coupe.

It is the same with LCI in Sweden, but Sweden has a long time regulation of using the dipped beam as DRL and it comes on as soon as you start the car, along with the rings. It can not be coded out.

Interesting mine is 2009 with Xenons its a LCI model and only the rings come on when I turn on DRL on the car settings.

All I need now is code for them not to dimm when headlights come on

I have searched and read many different topics about this, but can't seem to find a consistent answer:

I have 07 e90 pre-LCI. I upgraded my AE to MTEC Xenon. Can my car be coded now to have the AE be my DRL? If not, what can I do to make my AE by my DRL instead of the current halo?
