I was told that you shouldn't need to keep a spare because even after the run flats pop, they can still run 150km before they are fully useless.

I'm putting my winters on this week just to be safe!

I am not sure if the winters I ordered are run flats (Hancook tires), I need to double check that, if not then I am assuming I would need a spare.

Or pick up one of those tire repair kits, which re-inflate and seal your tire...

eg: http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/brows....jsp?locale=en

they go on sale for 30-50% off regularly.

Oh yeah, and since I do most of my driving before 8am and after 6pm, I typically look at temperatures at that time of day instead os simply daytime highs. Mornings are key since looing at the 14 day forecast morning temps are hovering around 0-5C

If you put them on too early (or take them off too late), you'll burn through the soft tread. At this time of year, it can easily climb to 15-18C in the day time. The 7 degrees C number is somewhat misleading. That's the temp at which the grip for Summers and Winters is supposedly equivalent. Summers are fine below that but get too hard (think hockey pucks) much below zero*. I usually wait till its consistently below 5. The downside to waiting till its cold is that your bum and hands freeze (bought a garage heater last year for that reason).

Picked up my 335i MSPORT in late December last year (-15C) and the dealer didn't give a damn that it was delivered with Summer tires (I dropped off my old car with the OEM Summer tires after switching over from Winters the day before). I put on a set of 18" Winters when I got home.
