As the title says, which one do you guys think will be more comfortable for street driving. I'm in Canada so we do have tons of potholes. The price diff is $300-$400 more for the Bilstein. Do you guys think it's worth it?

BTW, I'm not planning to track the car as of now. This is strictly for a better feel on the road - less bounce over bumps (esp. on curves), less float and inspire more confidence while hitting the ramps etc. Also doing it for appearance. However, I do not want to lose the stock ride (the 2011 e92 suspension has been improved dramatically in comparison to my 2008 335i coupe, esp the way it absorbs potholes etc).

Personally, I think Bilsteins make excellent shocks and because they're monotube, I prefer them over KWs. However, the only thing stopping me is, I'm looking for a not too aggressive drop and the few reviews I've read of people who had PSS10s report that, in the front, even at the highest setting, the car is dropped pretty low - like fender lined up w/ the top of the tire.

If that's not an issue, I say go for it. Bilsteins are OEM shock suppliers for cars like the Bugatti Veyron, Porsche GT2, Nissan GTR, etc. They are really high quality products. Here's a couple of reviews I found. The 1st review has pictures showing what I'm talking about re: ride height:

The Bilsteins seem too low for the highest setting. Will defn be a hinderance during the winter months with snow getting packed between the wheel wells.

My only concern with the KWs has to do with the quality as many ppl have complained about it's durability.

The ASTs look great but aren't they in the $2500 region? At that price, I would have to consider the Ohlins R&T as well.

PSS10 lowest settings looks like my H&R drop on my E90...its NOT that low..and im in SoCaL roads suck here, there is a bump every 30ft.

id go with the Pss10.. or try the ST coils? H&R are great, they're stiffer over stock tho. tiny bit.

No. The 2nd link in my first response goes to a marketplace link where HP Autowerks is selling the ASTs for $1849 - basically the same price you'll be paying for Bilsteins or KW V2s. I've also found them for sale from other vendors in that same price range.

I believe AST has a very broad range of height adjustments. In fact, they can customize their spring options (both spring rate and height) so you can actually have the car sit at stock height if you'd like.

Alterzgo: Thanks for pointing that out. I sent Harold an email concerning the AST 4000 series with swift springs etc.

Jhnr: I read up on the ST coils. It seems that it's inferior to KWs as far as materials (high grade steel = not 100% rust free). That won't work with the winters here.

Just get the feeling whichever coilovers I go with, it won't be as comfortable as the 2011 stock suspension.
