BMW 335xi vs. Snow
In the Toronto area we had a massive storm today. We received 16 inches of snow. I need to go get a coffee and some breakfast.....but our landscapers did plow our driveway yet...
It was BMW vs. the Snow (and a Dualie).... The BMW was victorious!!!! X Drive absolutely rocks.....(Notice my girlfriend's Quattro on the driveway) BTW, I hope snow doesn't scratch Enjoy Leaving the house (my girlfriend had no confidence): A non-race with a Dualie Snow Plow:

Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D XL Saw lots of AWD and FWD knobs on the side of the roads, presumably with All-Season tires. These Dunlops are way better than my old Pirellie P210s. Didn't get stuck anywhere today, it was a problem backing back on the driveway but a little clutch wear and the 335xi is sleeping in the garage now.

Out here in the country we were snowed in most of the day. I cleaned the lane this aft with a tractor and snowblower so I could get to town. Lots of cars were stuck on the streets, but the xdrive handled it fine. Even had my choice of parking spots that mere mortals driving 2WD's were afraid to tackle.
This is my first AWD car. It won't be my last. ps: running on conti all weather |

I use to own and A6 4.2 Quattro....I will take the 335xi anyday. There were spots today that would have crippled my old Quattro.

I know my RWD sedan would have gotten stuck in that, but in the ~6 inches we have gotten lately, my Dunlop 3Ds did very well. Good to see an Xi actually getting used! I hate hearing about people buying an X-drive equipped car then saying they have a snow car, isnt that the point?

The tires are really amazing...way better than my old Pirellis... It is wierd though...there would be some slip and the car would sink and then it just takes off. I was really amazed at the traction. Other than cornering performance, I swear I was just driving on a normal road. I left DSC off (by accident) and did a nice drift in an intersection in front of a cop (again by accident)...... Car is solid.

u r right about BMW having not much an experience compared to Audi, but the xDrive has proven to be better than Quattro and 4-matic which is shown in many comparison videos on youtube. go see for urself, there was actually thread about this a while ago. I'm surprised at how BMW does this stuff so good, they are truly the best at everything

did u get the same size (225/45/17) for both front and rear? and also i checked on the tire rack website, they didn't have 225/45/17, instead they had 225/50/17, what do these numbers represent? i know the 17 is for teh diameter of the rim but i don't know the other two
