I would probably say simply NO to putting idrive into a non-idrive car...

But I gotta ask if you are bound and determined to do so, how are you going to replace the dash?

Nothing is impossible.
It takes a lot of time, patience and playing with but worth of all that hard work.

You will need to remove your steering wheel / steering wheel rack / Central console to remove your dashboard.

While its out, its worth of adding all the wires to JBF (Junction box) which is underneath the fuse box.

Or get somebody on the board who can fit this.

You can also contact one of the retrofit vendors here on the board, give them your VIN and they can tell you everything you need to do to properly retrofit the CIC.

Some of them may already have premade wiring harnesses, etc. So it'll make things a little easier.

I went from a no idrive set up to installing the double scoop dashboard, retrofit the CIC unit and Combox with 6FL and Bluetooth.

I got fellow forum member alpina527 to do all the coding and took a lot advise from asfar, voucher76 and booster4075. The latter forum members have done two great write ups which I used to complete the install.
