100k service

hey guys yes i did search,
my light is starting to come on when i start the car i have 9,000 km's left till my 100,000 km service. i called a few dealers in my area and none can specifically tell me what the 100k service involves. i realize they need to plug my key into their computer to get a better idea but i would think there would be a usual list of things that should get done. one dealer said around $899 which for some reason seems like alot of money for the 100k service to me.

anyways just remember its in km's not miles and if you guys have had this done yet let me know. thanks alot appreciate it !

$899 sounds cheap to me as far as maintenance service goes. Its more than just "inspect" everything, changing engine oil and etc.. I think they change belts, transmission fluid and other major components. Although I'm not there yet because I still have 30K left (and this being my first BMW) till I hit the 100K mark, but the 100K service on my Mercedes is between $1,500-$2,000. And that's through a Indy shop... I can't imagie what dealership would charge... I don't know if this helped.

IMO, don't let the dealer rip-off you.

Never pay for a 'package service'.

Ask things separately. Oil/filter change. Ignore the cabin microfilter or remove it. Coolant change. You'll probably be pressurized to flush the brake fluid... if it was done at 2 years, I would wait until 6. Or 8 if it was done at 4. Air filter change (it is cheap). Alignment if you noticed something. NO INSPECTION at all. Ask for a price before bringing in for service. Spark plugs replacement would wait.

I would expect no more than 500$ if no alignment.

"Inspection" is just short for, "we'll charge you $300 to glance at everything (or not) and really not add any value."

That kind of crap is pure margin.

Wow. Is it much cheaper that way? You almost sound like you work for BMW. Like a secret SA that knows all the behind stuff. =)

Then go to an Independent BMW repair shop and get it done.
