USB/MULF/TCU question/scenario
I cannot find a straight answer on this in the forum. I have a 2007 e92 with navi and BT. I only have a TCU unit in my trunk. If I bought a MULF with SVS from someone, what else is needed to get USB stick support?
Will the MULF replace the TCU? Will both need to be hooked up? Does the TCU connect to the MULF? What exact coding needs to be done to enable USB? Does the new MULF need to be coded since it came from a different car, if so, what exactly? |

The issue here is probably no one has done this for you. It is pretty redundant because the MULF 2 does what the TCU module does. With the exception of BMW Assist features.

Well no. the Mulf2 uses the same wiring as the TCU but a different Cover cap. Basically a swap and then code the car.

if you need assist you can hook both them simultaneosly, this configuration supported
USB Audio option wired to MULF2HIGH, Bluetooth and Assist to TCU

This is what Im trying to figure out. How would the cabling be if I wanted to have both? Would I have to splice wires from the existing TCU cables to go into the MULF2 and get a cap for it?

I think you might be a bit over your head on this, no offense. You need to search what is really required for a 6FL retrofit.

$6FL coding for MULF in combination with TCU
I have a coding issue that I hope someone can help with
I have a 2009 LCI 335 with Nav ($609) and a TCU providing bluetooth, BMW Assist ($639) and voice recognition ($620). To retrofit a USB port ($6FL), I installed a used MULF2-high. Cabling for MOST and AUX/USB adapter was very straightforward. However, the USB port is not recognized I added $6FL to the VO and wrote that to CAS and NFRM. NCSExpert (vers 4.0.1 with v49 Datens) will not read (CODEIREN_LESEN) the MULF. It will not code (SG_CODIEREN) the MULF either whether the FSW_PSW file is blank or not. It has no trouble reading/writing other modules including the TCU. SG_RESET to the MULF did not give an error message so perhaps it was successful but it didn't help. Neither did resetting the reset of the car's module. I changed the VIN in the MULF using Tool32 which had no effect. Out of ideas and completely sick of BMW's byzantine approach to software development. Any suggestions would be appreciated. |

this is not true that you can't read mulf via dcan cable for e90
this is true only for pre-2005 e60 actually i suppose you broke your most ring, because mulf2 can be reached for diagnostics and coding only via MOST and your tcu went unavailable too your headunit is operating as a gateway between body diagnostic bus and MOST devices.

PinchaDis:
What I didn't do was wait long enough for the car to fall asleep, key out, locked. When it woke up, USB was recognized. The problem is that I've done my research, probably too much. There are a number of people who have reported reading the MULF with DCAN cable (I suppose like ptpending, above) although far more fail. ptPending: If you know how to read the MULF using NCExpert and DCAN cable, I'd love to find out how. |

Nope.
My VO date is #0908, Car is an E90 LCI 2009, NCSexpert 4.0.1, EDIABAS 7.3.0, Daten 49.2 Can SG_RESET the 2MULF but not CODEIREN_LESEN. Tool32 can read the VIN (and change the VIN) but won't turn BT on or off. NCSExpert can read the TCU and other modules fine. By the way, the MULF works perfectly providing audio USB. The TCU provides the Bluetooth, no problems There must be something else different about your vehicle, integration level or software. |
