My 330i does this on and off. I would easily say that 9/10 times my Bluetooth pairs perfectly...but it is Really!! annoying when it "searches for paired devices" for 45 minutes.

So Fleet,
If I tell my local dealership that I am having intermittent bluetooth connection problems with my mobile (whether this is true or not), then I would assume they would install CIP 20 under warranty in the UK, without me having to pay for it?

Would this be a way of getting mp3 playback on SatNavPro (if it is available as a functionality upgrade on the disc) for the likes of me who do not think they should be forced to pay the quoted £150 upgrade fee for something which is not an 'essential' upgrade?

The digital fuel guage on my E90 used to say 400 mls, but now it says 270 mls when the tank is maxed. So it sounds like my display is actaully lower than it's supposed to be. Do you suppose CIP 20 fixes this?

Mine does the same- To pair phone w/ car go into bluetooth menu on car and search for a new bluetooth device, after a second or two, go cancel out of the menu and within the next 10-15 seconds the phone pairs up with the car/ works every time, takes less than 10 seconds.

I believe the fix is for cars that do it for quite a while and roughly while cold

That's one procedure I haven't tried. Of course the point is, we shouldn't have to go through all these girations to get it to work. I will try that the next time my phone doesn't pair (like this morning). It sure would be nice if they do fix this intermittent problem once and for all!

E90Fleet - no, I don't have CIP 20. They just updated the E91, but I don't know what software they put on. The E90 hasn't been updated since the Septober update.

So there was a problem with the previous update that messed with the bluetooth..Why is there always problems with these updates? Theres been over three previous updates and BMW has been creating newer ones to fix the problem in their latest updates..I dont understand. I know they are not a major computer programming company, like microsoft, but whats the deal? Some people cannot take the time to take their cars to their dealerships on the average of every month. personally, i think this is pathetic.

This is excellent news. I live in a cold climate in the US and my 330i does this quite a lot. Once warm, the N52 is as smooth and refined as the ad copy tells you it is. But it shudders massively when cold.

When I saw E90s and E91s being built in Munich last October, I noticed that some build sheets were labelled "Kalt" which I assumed meant cold climates. Since US cars were labelled specifically "US" but I never saw one labelled both "Kalt" and "US" I assumed that whatever BMW did to prepare cars for cold climates didn't apply to US cars and that was part of the issue of the N52 shuddering when cold.

Now, if I can convince the dealer to install it, CIP 20 might be just the thing to make the car work better in the winter.

Do you guys think all the dealers have this yet? Will my ignorant service department know what I'm talking about if I call and ask them about CIP 20?
