what do you like better and why

Looking to put a tune on my 335i and cant decide between the procede v3 and JB4.

What would your choice be and why?

JB4. They are readily available, nearly half the price, function very similar. This is coming from someone who used a PRocede. There is no problem with the PROcede but in this day and age with tuning there is no reason to spend extra plus the JB4 is very supported still.

Yup, jb4 is doing everything and more for way cheaper and new software/hardware upgrades still in development.

JB4.. I have been with them since JB3 and watched the race between Shiv and Terry and i will say that everytime Vishnu came out with something new it cost A LOT and then Terry would release a better smoother easier version of it for FREE or a small fee. Example OFT.. oh wait Terry has flash software available for free.. not 500 dollars. and The JB4 is powering some of the fastest cars around. my vote JB4

Looking at the two, they look identical. I understand a piggy-back system is what it is, but it looks like the only difference is wire color, and module design. Based on what i've read, they perform the same as well.

Are there any true differences? That might be a loaded question, but i'm genuinely curious if there's a reason someone should spend the extra dough on a PROcede unit.

Performance and features are every similar between the two back when JB4 had a G4 board.

PROcede = JB4 G4 board
PROcede < JB4 G5 ISO Board
PROcede w/$500 flash <<< JB4 G5 ISO w/ free flash (maybe $178 for cable)

Every car I've seen on stock frame turbos putting down record setting power and 1/4 mile times has been with JB4. I've installed it on two of my 335i's and I've never considered a different tune. Plus the price difference is stupid

Thank's for clarifying. The flash your speaking of, is this the Backend Flash (BMS)?

I have a Procede Rev 3 running meth on my E82 and I really like it. Perfect for my needs and puts down great power (I got 120mph trap speeds on stock turbos). I also like the user tuning interface.

That said I have a JB4 on the girlfriends 135i and I really like the map 5 for set and forget with E85 mixes. The in dash controls are great as well, like being able to read codes etc.

In regards to support, yes vishnu are pretty much non existent on these forums these days but they do reply to my emails relatively quickly if I ever have any questions, regardless of if I was the initial purchaser or not. Terry refused to answer my questions via email for the JB4 as I bought the unit second hand. You can also probably pick up a second hand Procede unit pretty cheap since no one really wants them lol. If buying new though there will be a big difference in price.

It's hard to argue against the JB4 though being cheaper, having more features and making the same power.

I personally plan on running the procede on my race car if I endup needing a piggy back. I like the JB4 but the procede tuning is a lot more refined. Also with guys like 3000GT_MR shiv's support isn't really needed. I like my JB4 but it is a generic mass market option. Also the supposed JB4 is best mantra is crap. A lot of the current big horsepower cars have switched to Cobb. @07Tundra switched to procede.

Just because more people run JB4 doesn't mean it's generic mass market crap. For 99% of people just wanting to make their 335i faster, it's a way better option. If there are folks running power house 335s on Procede or Cobb, those are not set and forget cars anyways.

More people buy JB4 because it's a lot cheaper, still supported and Terry provides great customer support. JB4 makes more power than other tunes and Procede is the only one that comes close in preloaded maps, but is a lot more money.

jb4 g5 ftw and still has support and constant updates as well as pushing the platform forward w e85 and now single turbo tuning ....either that or get a cobb protune !

Wasn't calling the JB4 crap just the hating that everyone that uses it does on other options. As you can see from my sig I run a JB4 on my DD and I think it is great for that.

You shouldnt be setting and forgetting any tune regardless on how generic or custom it is. You should always log

The procede unit is actually a superior piece of hardware and has the capability of controlling a lot more than the jb units. BMS has far superior customer service though. So, it really depends on what you want. If you want a better and more robust tuning solution, go process and contact wedge for tuning. If you want to be able to get a hold of the company easily and get fast responses with great CS, go JB4.
