well there flash is up don dinan's site now. including a pdf format about it.
they used 93 octane and a 85mph fan. not bad lma0o. and there still worried about heat. they got some high standards. |

Not sure why everyone has to make a huge distinction between a "normal" bmw driver and a "enthusiast." I'm not a gearhead...I don't fully understand the more complicated engine diagnostic terminology used, but what I do know is that I love driving my 335. How many of you have been to the BMW driving school? I'm going in Feb..for free. Does that make me an enthusiast? Am I a real "driver" now?
I'm very interested in the Dinan product. It's straight from the dealer and it doesn't void my warranty...peace of mind is priceless. Does it give me the most bang for the buck...hp...no...peace of mind....yes. and by the way...I really don't like getting my hands greasy. I like them nice and clean behind the wheel of my great 335. |

Anyone know is Dinan provides free updates to the tune, as do the piggyback tuners via their websites? Obviuosly it would mean a visit to your authorized Dinan BMW dealer for an update flash, but I would still want that "most up-to-date" map availability (free! Not another $300 "install" at the dealer).
Obviously, as Dinan said in their own press release, they hope to increase the power gains significantly. People who buy this today should have the ability to get the newer, better maps in the future at no additional cost. |

The thing that everybody seems to dismiss here is the fact that the factory DME is being flashed. That means Dinan controls the DME which means that they understand all of the functions of the DME, including knock sensors, boost, water temp, etc. Piggybacks are band aids that give artificial signals to the DME they are not functioning with the car's diagnostics but against them. I spent 48k on my car spending another thousand for a tune from a tuner who knows how to control the very sophisticated functions of a vehicles DME is valuable.
The cost of cracking a DME and doing something called R&D is VERY expensive. The man hours spent getting control of the DME and reverse engineering it add up. I will be selling my TT and going to this software for my car for two simple reasons, Dinan controls the DME and can properly tune the car and it removes my speed limiter. The other major question people never seem to ask is why would you introduce a piggy back computer if you could control the more capable factory DME. Stan, quite impressive...$2000 sounds like a fair price for the power and warranty...the $2000 for the larger oil cooler sounds a bit high...that really starts adding up.
My question is this...you state the gains and in my book they don't add up correctly. You state a 52hp gain and yet total hp is rating at 384...if I am correct the car comes with 300hp which would be an 84h gain, not 52hp. I am assuming this is all hp at the crank, not the rear wheels or the numbers would be even further out of wack. Being the nice guy that I am, I am willing to beta test this product for you at absolutely no charge. I believe my region and climate will allow you to conduct very diversified testing covering a large spectrum...I am also willing to test the other mods you have available if you need me to...please let me know which dealership will be installing your phenominal products into my 335xi and when I should have my car there. Congratulations on putting together such a great product, I am looking forward to seeing everyones reaction after the initial products are put into customer cars. Great work!

You do need to send it off. The 2008 ECU uses D-CAN.... Seems that Dinan isn't or unwilling to equip its dealers with D-CAN programmers in addition to the PT-CAN programmers. You figure at $2000 per license for some 010010010011's they would have money to get D-CAN programmers out to the dealers.
