. strange that on the official US website they had the release date today. i went on ebay and checked it out and came out in japan.

anyone know official date for the US? but we can play the jap version right on US ps3s?

i would think so. it's the same blu-ray specs as here. you would probably have to understand japanese though

there is no story line to gt5. i just can't wait for the US version lol. anyone else planning on just getting the jap version to settle for now?

I heard its coming out in july, according to one of my employees whose a video game freak. Im waiting patiently..kinda

Amazon.com lists February 19th. However, GT4 slipped several times.

EDIT: But, if it's really out in Japan, that's probably great news for an upcoming US release date. If I remember right, GT4 was out just a few months in Japan before hitting the US. Can't wait! And it looks like they've got Ferraris now - guess that EA lockdown truly was tied to the PS2.

Wait a minute... wasn't one of the big deals of the ps3 that games werent region coded? DVDs are coded... but the PS3 doesn't run DVDs... therefore... we should be able to play the japanese version. So how about someone get on importing it.

GT3 and GT4 Japanese versions would only play on the corresponding country's PS2 console, enforced by a software/firmware check; even though they had common underlying media technically. I think there were Japanese, European, and US "territories". Can't speak to the PS3 (been waiting for this as a reason to buy), but I'll bet it's the same way.

I remember buying a Polyphony release of a game in between GT3 and GT4 - forgot what it was called, but included a couple of new cars - and it wouldn't work. Then found there's a whole market for folks in the US buying Japanese PS2s or "chipping" their US counterparts to play these games.

Hope you're right. It may extend beyond the movie player's restrictions, though. If someone tries it, let us know! May have a new Christmas list.

if you can read japense, yes you can play the jap version on our ps3s. i too was thinking about buying the jap version on ebay but am thinking will i get the full enjoyment compared to the english version...

An english version would be nice... but the ferrari is in the prologue, and holiday days off means plenty of time to ferrari my time away.

Guys, I've got the GT5 Prologue Demo...it's quiet easy..

1> Choose New user

2> Creat a japanese Account

3> Sit down before hand with a pen and paper as you set up the "English" language account and write down the Questions of each page, a Drawing and labels above will help you to figure out what the "Japanese" account asks you to fill out, for the address i got on google and I searched for a random company and address in japan and then i filled it out on the Questionarie....

4> Sign in

5>Go to Racing Game Demos

6>Download GT5 Prologue

7>Play the Game

8>Come VERY close to the Lexus IS-F Time on the F1 Ring course with the 135i

Cars in the demo:

New Nissan GT-R (Fastest in Demo)

Lexus IS-F (2nd Fastest in Demo)

BMW 135i (3rd Fastest in Demo)

Mitsu Lancer Evo X 5th

Subaru WRX STi 4th---Much faster than the Evo

New Mazda 6 Slow FWD

Daihatsu tiny car Slow 3 Cylinder

Enjoy.

I'm gonna try the japanese download again, I tried before but got irritated and quit because I couldn't understand the signup

Anybody actually get the demo yet? I think I might just take the plunge and order it.

Make a Japanese account and get it for free...it still is available

Couple Months ago I posted my impressions on the Forza 2 game (X360), boy oh boy....the Forza 2 is Not even close to the physics/graphics of the GT5....I've never felt such an excitement playing a racing Simulator (Don't you dare call it a GAME

)

I guess I meant ordering Prologue (japanese version). I see it on ebay for around 60 shipped, but not sure it's worth that much more than just getting the free demo. I'm gonna try the tips above tonight and write everything down.

Bought it last night for 56 shipped.....Will write a review/concerns/language problems
