335i Engine Oil Change - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum

Hi All,

My 335i already got 6K miles.... and i wanna change the engine oil, but contacted BMW service, she said need not to change unless there is one year or password 20K miles.... is that true? or i need to change the oil at somewhere else?

Hi yipdotcom,

I recall my first oil service at about 6 months after getting my car. Same, according to my SA that time, he said nowadays no need to change that often, but I insisted so it was done. Under warranty, so FOC.

That 20K is only for FOC. Changing oil schedule is quite personal and I will choose to change once every 6000 to 8000km which I think it's worth for less than $1,000 spending on your over 600k car.

I do have the same problem. BMW won't change the oil for me and I went outside to change it. It is much better to change it every 3 months, or not more than 6 months.

yes, BMW provide 1 oil change only at the 1st year, they will suggest you at the end of the year or they have set up in your car for run 25000km

you should change it else where for every around 6~8K, you can feel the car is starting "lup" if you dont change the oil

Oh...they changed for me twice (the first 5000 and before the end of the 1st year) at the 1st year.

I think so, as long as you insist, also you get along with your SA well enough. My SA has served me for 8+ years, so maybe... hehe

Actually all the dealers (not only BMWHK) would advise to have oil change after 1st 5000-7000km.

I think my family has to be served by few SAs in TKW, no special treatment. But I guess this policy (1 oil change only in 1st year) is new...

Just go change the oil at any place.. you can buy the oil filter from Valiant if you think maybe the place does not have it..!! Change it!! I changed my E90 335i @5200kms also.. feels much better!!!

I think Sime Darby is still using Mobil lub.

I cannot recall if my SA tells me there is a limit of once per year for oil change, but he did say no need to change "that frequent"... not sure due to less work under warranty
