H&R has released a set of springs that lower the car by about 35mm (1.4") and another more aggressive kit that lowers it by 50mm(2.0"). On the E46 these springs were called the H&R Sport and H&R Race.

I'd assume they will be called the same names again, so the H&R sport springs lower the car by 1.4" and H&R Race wil lower it by 2.0".

They also have coilovers ready which range in lowering from 1.2" - 2.4". I have coilovers on my E46 and I must say, if you have the $$, coilovers are the way to go if you want a really godly handling BMW. The matched shocks and springs are really unbeatable.

this car needs a set of lightweight BBS LMs on there (yeap thats my all time favorite wheel if anyone has guessed yet ha ha ha) with the H&R suspension and some sticky icky tires, the e90 should be a real killer on the track. the performance companies are jumpin in

That's a nice tight drop. You can always count on H&R for their springs. There will be plenty more aftermarket mods released before anyone stateside even begins to take delivery.

Just in time for the 30-year anniversary of the BMW 3-series and before the car is presented officially, H&R can offer several modifications for the new BMW E90.

The sport springs made from a high tension steel allow a lowering of either 30mm or 50mm without changing the shock absorbers.

The sporty version of the H&R suspension modifications is the adjustable coil over which not only influences the optics of the new car from Munich. The ride height can be individually adjusted to every wheel/ tyre combination due to the German TÜV standards.

H&R stabilizers are designed to increase lateral stability and improve the overall handling of the 3-series. Aluminum wheel spacers between 10 and 60mm widening per axle for original as well as aftermarket wheels allow an even more dynamic appearance of the Bavarian.

H&R suspension components are developed and produced in accordance with the German TÜV standards.

sorry for a novice qu but what is the difference between springs and coilovers? is it that the coilovers are adjustable or are there other benefits??

Also we are seeing many body kits and now springs/coilovers but when would you expect to start seeing engine performance mods? like cai, headers, replacement pipes and exhausts?

vivid: a coilover is a shock absorber with a coil spring (springs) encircling it. This provides for optimal damping without torsional loads. The spring rate and shock dampening rates are optimally matched. Some coilovers are only height adjustable, but some are both height adjustable and dampening level adjustable. Usually coilovers result in a harsher ride than just swapping out springs. Coilovers are great if you plan on tracking your car, but for normal use it may be excessive. If lowering the car is all one is after, then lowering springs alone, or lowering springs matched with a sport shock will be cheaper (and often less harsh) alternatives. Hope that helped.
