I got flagged by Manhattan Beach PD....failing to yield to a pedestrian!

Man...I was making a left hand turn...peds walking away from me at large intersection, but were 2 steps from reaching sidewalk. I went behind them into the left hand lane...but cop states I cannot go until they are on the sidewalk, even though I am passing a good 15-20 feet away from them.....man, laws....urggggh.

On my old cars...Toyota, Nissan...never had a single violation for 15 years. Now in the E90...fix it ticket 3 weeks ago, now moving violation. I need to start driving like a grandma again.

That ticket is a little harsh. What's the guy going to do? Run back the other way? It could be possible, but then he's pretty stupid and you would most likely already be through the crossing. Sounds like one of those nit-picking cops that saw an easy fine.

That reminds a bit of driving in Korea. I'm not sure if it was 'allowed', but people always drove through a crosswalk on a red light if there was no one crossing. And some taxi drivers would go through if there was no one crossing that section.

LOL! It doesn't matter if it's "allowed" in Korea, as long as no one catches you. That's why there are those people who videotape people breaking laws and give the police the videos for money.

Negative...it was at night. And as soon as I saw the lights....pressed the auto windows down for the two front windows. At first, I was hoping that it was for the front plate again....I was going to tell them that I was waiting for my appt with the dealer to have it "drilled" and show him the fix it ticket that was in the center console. But, to my surprise...it was this whole turning too early bit. :finger:

yep...and now its off to traffic school for me to keep it from my record. Sucks that I have to use it for this "offense".

Of course, it's completely "legal" to park in bus lanes as long as you beat down the recorders, before they get to the station

aww man im so sorry that totally sucks. i think that cop was just having a bad day so he took it out on you. id probably get tickets all over the place if cops saw teh way i drive .. i drive around pedestrians when they walk too slow. i know.. im impatientt.

Traffic school???

Yes...if you acquire certain amount of violations...you get points added onto your driving record. After particular amounts, insurance rates go up, and eventually you can have your license suspended.

If you are a first time offender...or have not had a violation within a particular time period (12-18months??), you can take a course or "traffic school", which used to be at a facility, but now there are on-line options. Taking this course/ schooling will allow for dismissal of the violation. So, you take the course, pay a processing fee....and you get no points on your driving record. But...if you get another ticket within the next 12-18 months...you can't do the course again..you get the points added on your record...and pay higher rates on car insurance...basically, you are screwed.

"traffic school....its easy. You can do an on-line thing now. You can even do it while watching football on tv."

WTF....then why even bother giving me a ticket. Just give me a warning by telling me what I did wrong verbally.

i always wave to cops and i always smile! it keeps me on their good side. when i see cops at restaurants i approach htem and ask for police stickers.

But...I guess my time was up. I did get pulled over once before when I live in boston. The cop let me go with a warning. He said I ran a red light...but no way...I was clearly through the intersection while it was still yellow. But...I may have been going a little fast to make it.

Anyways...no smiles...but since I was on my way home from work on a weekend...(in the medical field), I was in scrubs with my badge on my coat hanging from the back seat...which I think helped in his decision to let me go.


oh well...can't win them all
