can the dinan flash be sold after using it?

Hey guys and gals,

I wanted to see if let's say I get the dinan flash and one year down the road when I have to retirn my car can the dinan flash be reversed so the car is back to stock and then I can sale the flash??? With procede etc you have a module you can take off and sale... Can something of the sort be done with the dinan flash? Also, if I sale the flash at a later time, does the dinan warranty transfer to the buyer? Based on these answers I will make my appointment at the local dealer to have the flash done.

TIA

It can be reversed, although it seems pointless since you VIN is recorded. It is not possible to sell it. Both of these of major advantages of piggybacks over the flash. People never know it was there, and you can sell it.....

Curious to how much people will actually be getting for their V1 or V2 in a few years?

$100? $200?

I don't think many people can read the future...

The only thing we do know, is you can't re-sell the dinan flash.

Or use it in another application. 135i, 535i, potentially the V8 4.0 TT X6? 996TT's, etc....

Considering that very same PROcede will be able to be re-installed on a 135, 335, 535 and presumably both versions of X6s (i6tt and v8tt) and the upcoming v8tt M5s/M6s, I'm sure it will retain good residual value

With another harness and firmware update, it would also be able to be installed on a Skyline GTR, EVO X as well as any watercooled (01 and up) Porsche 911 Turbo.

Nope... Once you flash your car with Dinan or GIAC you are screwed son! You cant transfer the tune or anything, all you can do is have it removed from the car... $2000 down the toilet...

I think he was agreeing with the fact that you can resell the PROcede for use in related or unrelated other applications

The flash cannot be sold but I'm wondering if the ECUs could be swapped.
This could be done on the MKV GTIs.

another question to bring up is, i know dinan can re-flash if needed if u get a software update,

but how about flashing back to stock? can it be done
when u flash back to stock will it leave any trace to the dealer u ever had a flash?

Shiv, not to Hijack the thread but, you really think you will continue using the same internals for the foreseeable future. I just figured with advancement you would’ve come up with something better by then?

If all you'll ever need to change is the harness and software, I can see your point.

Then you see my point. We developed the PROcede because of all its available analog and digital channels. I see it taking us wherever we want to go with it. I'm quite certain we have all BMW applications covered due to our experience with the N54 335/535. And we already have developed applications for Porsche 996 and 997. That just leaves the Nissan GTR as only unknown. And we've already developed a number of Nissan applications with no issue. So yes, the same PROcede harness will be used for everything. The only limitation is, unfortunately, our time when it comes to application development. This year is going to keep us very busy

Shiv

I'll have to politely disagree with that statement.

I could put a piece of crap in a box and stamp warranty on the top... Will someone buy it for $2k... A warranty is only as good as the man who writes it. I have heard a lot of stories of people going to collect on the Dinan warranty and then being told that its a dealer problem and then the dealer says its a dinan problem, then you have to get a lawyer to fix your blown motor... F that! Just pull out your piggyback before going in for service and shut up...

That's a very small percentage of the overall warranty claims Dinan handles. Please don't try to exaggerate that just to try to justify that a piggyback is better than a warrantied flash.

Good enough residual value that Vishnu could offer a minimum return for a year? Like something close to what the hardware costs you guys (~ $500). My guess is that like most everything else, one could sell the unit to another party for more, but it would inspire confidence.

You are a hypocrite... You are like one of the only people to SUPPOSEDLY get mistreated by Vishnu and now you are on some kind of crusade to God knows what other than annoy everyone on E90post with your rants... Please dude go get a life... Like i said i dont consider the Dinan tune warrantied, its just a sales gimmick to sell more flashes... When your dinan tuned motor blows lets see how fast you get it fixed... If a Procede person blows a motor and the dealer didnt know there was a procede BMW warranty will pick up the tab with no questions asked and even give you a loaner... Ask Dinan about their loaner program.
