Droopy & Seeping Power Steering Fluid Reservoir

I noticed my Power Steering Fluid Reservoir was starting to get about a 10 - 15 degree tilt and was seeping fluid.

So, I stopped by a BMW parts dept. since I priced the rubber mounts (34511162818) and they were cheaper there. Unfortunately they didn't have any in stock. But they did have the cap o-ring (32411128333).

I went ahead and changed the cap o-ring to slow down the seeping and I started looking at the mounts and an idea hit me. I grabbed my toolbox and got a 10mm socket and ratchet.

I took the 2 nuts off and picked the washers off the studs. I gently lifted the reservoir up off the studs being careful to not drop the 2 sleaves out of the mounts.

I then pulled the sleaves out of the mounts and then rotated the rubber mounts 180 degrees. Reinstalled the sleaves and set the reservoir back down on the studs.

Put the washers back on and while holding the reservoir level put the nuts back on and tightened them into place.

I'm not sure how long it will last but it will be level till I can get a new set of rubber mounts.

Thanks for posting this, I was under the hood earlier today and tried to figure something out. Mine is also barely leaking and leaning to the side and it bothers me.

Just a quick follow up. It's been more than a month and probably close to 2500 miles since I did this and the Power Steering Fluid Reservoir is staying nice and clean now.

Excellent, mine's doing the same. Better than replacing the reservoir

You've got to replace the cap o-ring too, which OP did and gave the p/n in the first post.
