Wheel & Tire replacement insurance - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum

Anyone buying the dealer wheel & tire replacement insurance? Dealer indicates that for $299 or $399 you can get road hazard wheel & tire coverage. Thinking about getting it with run flats and 18" rims. Have not had a chance to pick up the coverage contract terms, so not sure how about details of the coverage. Dealer makes it sound like anything short of hitting a curb or a wreck will be covered.

If that's the price, I might get the coverage. Just the tires alone would be alot to replace.

i got it... sounds like a good deal to me, if i pop a tire 1 time in liek 3 years its all payed for, that just makes sense to buy in my opinion

Here in the Boston area, arguably the pot hole capital of America, this coverage is $499 on my sports package wheels/tires. It has a limit of $1,000/indicent, so if you pop two wheels and tires you'd have to shell out some cash, but I hope that's a rare enough ocurrence

How often do you run into a replacement issue with these new run flats? In other words is it worth it? Have you ever had to shell out for your older e46 tires?

I basically got it because I have the sports package with its low profile tires and alloy wheels, which come with an official warning about succeptability to damage. With our terrible roads here, most people are getting this coverage. So my main concern is not flat tires.

I bought this ... $299 for 3 years, but asking nicely got it for $249. But... even with a separate set of wheels for snow tires the low profile jobs on the sport pkg. *may* last 3 years. Figured since those nice 162 wheels are going for $500 a pop it was worth the gamble to me. The coverage is pro-rated on the tires, but full for the wheels, with zero deductible. Paying the money almost guarantees you'll never need it.

Just wondering if there is an alternative to the insurance the dealer offers? Mylocal Bridgestone dealer says he can only sell the road hazard insurance on tires *he* sells and mounts (coverage from a specialty company)

Or just get the M-Mobility System for around 130$.

Yeah, the M-Mobility type approach probably makes more sense than merely having the insurance, as I drive in Northern California (i.e. boondocks), and being able to get things going myself makes sense.

This car is new to me, too of course, and I have a tendency to worry/fret/over-analyze potential problems which won't seem so important down the road HAH.

Anybody know if this is available in Canada? I've had my E90 for just over a month putting under 2000 KM on it and have a puncture already. Went to the dealer to get a replacement tire but none available. They checked other dealers, as well as ones in Montreal and Toronto -- none. Apparently they are back ordered until about the middle of August. BMW Canada said to talk to Bridgestone. Bridgestone said, sorry, shipment won't be here until at least the 10th. So I'm driving for the next week or two with a large nail or screw in my tire and adding air every day or two. Doesn't seem to be the safest thing to do. Also raises the question of why wouldn't dealers have a spare tire or two just in case they need to replace one?

Note the coverage is probably for Road Hazzard only!!
This means damage to tires and wheels from punctures from nails etc BUT does not cover vandilism or damage from hitting the curb etc.
Mine covers whatever tire and wheel is on the car at the time and is not pro rated.

when I picked up my 330i sport the bmw store pretty much insisted i buy it. it does make sense though, it was like 499 for 5 years. the insurance is called inTire. it was one of those deals where i had to buy it before i left otherwise they couldn't sell it (obviously, pull out, blow a tire, now can i buy? ha). with these run-flats on 18" wheels i figure it was a good idea. 43k on a car, what's another 500? even covers the wheels. the only exception is curb damage, obviously.

I think it is worth having. When I bought my car in Houston, I also purchased this for $399. I had a 5 year loan and it came out to roughly .80 cents a year. Did not really affected my monthly payment that much. Good to know I have it just incase.
