Well yes and no.
No there isn't a cheap and easy way to put a S/C or turbo on your 325xi, but yes, you can get two turbos by trading in your slow 325xi for a 335xi.
It would be a cheaper way to go anyway.

Well my 325xi has 52,000 miles on it now so it wouldn't be cheaper.

Sure it would.
By cheaper I mean, it would probablycost you $10K to put a turbo or supercharger on your 325xi.

It would be cheaper for you to sell your 325xi and get a new (or even cheaper to get a used 335xi).

Chances are, even with a turbo or supercharger on your 185 hp 325xi, it wouldn't be as fast as the stock 335xi anyway.

Most supercharger kits are $6-8K plus installation which costs $1-2K.
But since there are so few people putting s/c on a 325 it might be a rare case and they will charge more.

Just order the black on black 335xi.

Or search autotrader or swapalease for a black on black one.

I'll admit though the 335xi's are rare at this point, since they've been out less time and sell about 1/8th the amount as 335i's

But if you want more power upgrading your car to the 335 is the best way for you to go.

Yeah, but what I'm telling you is this:

Your car is several years old, is now out of warranty, is slow and you are clearly unhappy with it's performance now.
You spend ~$10k to put a supercharger on it, it probably won't be any faster than a stock 335xi and you now have a modded 325xi without a warranty and will absolutely kill any resale value it may have.
Would you buy a used 325xi with a supercharger on it??

That $10k you need to spend to put the s/c on the 325xi would have to be paid in cash anyway.
You could use that $10k as either a downpayment on the 335xi or keep it in the bank and use it towards the difference in your payments between the two cars.

With a new 335xi you have a (more than likely) faster car than the 325xi with the supercharger on it anyway.
You have a brand new car with a brand new warranty for the next 4 years or 50K miles.
You have a more desirable car.
Or just lease the 335xi for 3-4 years and enjoy it without worries of resale value or having it out of warranty.

And if in a year or two the 335xi's power starts to feel "normal" to you and you want more. A simple piggyback or ECU flash for $400-2000 will reinvigorate your car all over again.

If you've been happy with the slow basic power of the 325xi for the past 3-4 years, the 335xi will seem like a beast to you stock anyway and would surely keep you happy for a few years. Have a nice new car, have a warranty again, and not have to worry about the install or any issues a supercharger on the 325xi might cause you.

Go test drive the 335xi all your questions will be answered the second you drive off the dealership lot on the test drive and give the go pedal a bit of juice.

Good luck and have fun.

if you really want to keep your 325, you might look into http://www.vf-engineering.com/. They dont have anything listed for the e90, but I am sure that they can.

Vf is good but they will be $$$

Its not even worth it to SC a 325i for that just trade it in and get a 335 with a chip.

Well I think I'm just in a different scenario then everyone thinks. Previously I owned a E46 3 series, but now my dad is giving me his black on black E90 with 52,000 miles on it. I have about 8-10k I'm willing to spend to give my car some more umph but not much more than that. At this point in my life I only have cash and am not willing to be obligated to make the extra 16 thousand in payments (on top of the 10k Im would have to put in right now to get the 335xi. I have driven the 335xi, its unbelieavable but a lot of things are going to change in the next 3 years and I don't know what my financial situation will be like. Since that is out of my price range is there anything I can do to speed up the 325xi a descent amount anyways. Or are you guys saying my only option is spend MORE then im willing to on a car or be stuck with my 185 horsepower car? Thanks for your help guys

I am in a smiliar kind of situation.
I have thought about it alot and my conclusion was, I should plan where I should be in the coming years.

Sometimes life works out for you and sometimes it doesn't. You just need to take the risk to find out how it will be. I am doing that and hopefully it will go according to the plan.(I am trying to find out a plan B to back my original plan)

My advice is, plan what your going to do in the coming years so that you get some sort of idea , where you will be financially in the coming years.
Then you can decide, if you deserve a 335xi or your NA 325i.

Another thing, if you still want to upgrade your 325i, maybe this post can help you....!

First of all, a used 335 with 20K miles will be less then 40K. Second, an after-market SC or Turbo may give you more power, but at what costs? The engine is not designed or equipped for a long life of forced induction. There is way more to a 335 engine then just adding a set of turbos. From differences in material strength to the design of the internal components.

Third, for that extra $$ you don't just get the turbos, you get warranty, better suspension, bigger brakes, better stereo, etc.

If I said I'm absolutely not willing to spend 20 thousand dollars + all the time it would take to find a black on black 335xi with the options I like will anyone else tell me that doing anything besides buying a 335xi is my only option?

In short...NO

The 325 is the base model car, there really isn't anything that most companies will spend tens of thousands of dollars in R&D to develop go faster goodies on a car that was intended to satisfy the needs of people who only want basic amounts of power but in a entry level luxury sport car.

On 185 hp Naturally Aspirated motor you'll find very few ways to make 10-20 hp.
An intake MAY give you 5-6 hp
A piggyback or chip (again if they even make one for that car) will only give you another 6-8 hp at best.
Custom exhaust, might give you another 4-5 hp.

There's just not a lot you can do, again, since aftermarket tuning companies are going to concentrate on making more power for the more powerful versions of the car, since it's the people who buy the most powerful versions that are interested in POWER to begin with.

I take it you are pretty young.
You know how many "kids" would absolutely soil their pants to be given an e90 325xi from their parents??
Sure it may not win races and being a young male, that IS important, but you do and will have a much nicer car than most kids with their souped up Honda Civics.
Don't worry about winning the races right now. Smile because you could have the hotter chick riding shotgun in your BMW than some punkass in his riced up Civic thinking he's cool.

Or, say "thank you father, I love you for everything you've done for me, and I appreciate you giving me this 2 year old 325xi, but if it's alright with you, would you mind if I sold it, took the money, got a different car that I'd rather have?? I love the BMW but want a car with a bit more go."

If he's cool with that, sell it and get something that appeals to you in the power and looks department that won't cost you anymore money.

Save your $8-10K you are willing and able to spend on the BMW.
You may need it in the next 2-3 years.
