Filled the car wit BPU diesel. So far not impressed! The car 'moans' something serious now when stopped but still in 'D' i have to shift it into 'N' for it to stop! Too early to say about mpg as i've only been 'in town' driving so far, also, does not feel as smooth as with standard diesel?

Does the car need to get used to the fuel?

Another thing i was thinking was that i live in small town, far from city size. Gets me thinking how long that BPU has been lying in the filling station tank for as with todays fuel prices i cant imagine many people using it! I may as next time im in how much they use compared to standard.

Going to try different BP station for next fill to see if its any better.

I'll be back to report more..

You do right Carlos - perhaps you should 'spread the word'. Or satisfy yourself that ONE day, the t... WILL get his 'just desserts'. Always do.

For anyone who missed this thread originally, have a look here.

Nice work on starting that thread, Carl- some good memories & it was responsible for the birth of 'Sergei'.

I have not tried Vpower derv in my BMW, but tried it a couple of times in my previous car (Octavia 1.9 TDI). Everytime I fill up I make a note of milage and the computer read outs before resetting it. This data allows the "true" rather than computer MPG to be determined. I have a year and a halfs data and can say that for that car:

Shell Fuel (normal stuff) gave 1 or 2 mpg more than tesco fuel
VPower gave no more than the normal shell stuff
I didn't notice any performance difference
The computer underestimated its fuel consumption by an average of 10.4% regardless of fuel.

My BMW is too new for any meaningful comparisons, only on third tank of fuel, but appears to underestimate fuel consumption by 6%.

I will try Vpower at some point and see if this car likes it.
