I had thought about that as well.... The only place that it is noticable is where the kidney starts to curve up drastically. You can see the black part underneath. I wonder if you were to trim the chrome up in the direction of the curve if it would help?

That's a definite YAY! Definitely creative of him to do that... now no need to buy a whole new grille. Looks great Rachel.

You can really tell that the outside slats are not cut on an angle at the bottom. I would opt for switching parts with a chrome grill.

For $6.99, I think it's fantastic. Does the chrome cover just the front edge of each slat? Or does it wrap around each slat. Thanks.

That looks DAMN good! And the average person will not be standing as close as you took that picture to notice any "inconsistencies" with the cut...I wonder can you do that on an X5! Hey Rach, if I send you the $$$ could you send me some, or is it too bulky to put in the mail?

I agree, no one would be able to tell, unless they were a hardcore enthusiast and they got up real, real close to inspect. Did the chrome come is strips that were already the right width? Or did you precut and apply? Or maybe apply and cut away the excess. However you did it, it looks real good.

Is there a way to chrome a black grill. I have an X3 which has a chrome outline on the grill but the slats are black. I think it will look very cool with an all chrome grill.

Any suggestions.

This is the same stuff that people put all around their doors, right? It usually comes in a big roll. The only thing is that it is only designed to clip on to the edge of things (doors, slatted grills). You can also get the chrome tape in various widths that would work as well.

I agree entirely, the chrome grille reminds me of the cheezy bavarian autosport type products they used to sell back when the grilles all were black.
I'm glad I chose a 325, so I get the black grille(like the old BMW's), and blacked out side moldings (like my old M3)

That's one thing I have notice with the E90 is that everyone wants the chrome for some reason and acts if the black is cheap. On the E60, the black window surrounds is an option ... that you pay extra for. It's also on the sport kit of the E60 and previous 3 series.
Go figure? A year from now everyone will probably be wanting black instead of chrome.

As for the work on your grill RachelS, good job to your hubby! No one will ever notice those minor details and if they do ... oh well!

Excellent job...looks just like the stock chrome grill. The funny thing is I was wondering if I should buy the black grills to go with my jet black on black 330. I was thinking it might look more Darth Vader that way.
